28th of November to the 9th of December.

If you have a spare $27,500 sitting around, you can go too.:cool:

(Got the dates of an email the club sent me a few weeks back, asking me to pay up and go to Arizona as part of the official group).
Has anyone actually been to one of these? Don't even come close to the money needed but very interested to hear stories of what it's like.

This would be on my bucket list.

Maxwell played with quite a few injuries in 2011. This article was interesting reading. Turns out he also had a fractured leg last year:

Only on returning has Maxwell revealed the extent of injuries that bedevilled his season.

''With the injuries that I had I didn't have a chance to have the pre-season I wanted, and then the season I wanted. So I wanted to jump back into pre-season as soon as I could,'' he said.

Maxwell began the year with a dislocated shoulder in January that surprisingly was not affected by the heavy bump in a NAB Cup game in Perth only weeks later. That bump left him in hospital for several days with internal bleeding.

He said he also suffered lacerations to his kidney and liver from the hit, but surprisingly did not break any ribs. The internal injuries were similar to those of car-accident victims.

The injuries robbed him of a pre-season and when he returned in the early games, his form suffered. He then suffered calf soreness, though muscle scans revealed only a minor tear that should have been manageable. Maxwell said further bone scans revealed he had suffered two hairline stress fractures of his fibula.

''That was why I missed the Geelong game. Then I started to put some games together and I broke my thumb,'' he said. His thumb was broken in four places and the bone split apart and needed to be screwed back together. He then broke a knuckle in the grand final.

''The thumb is pretty good now. The knuckle is almost there,'' he said. ''I still need another couple of weeks of protection on it when we are using balls, but apart from that I feel physically good, which makes a change.''

RE ed D. U'd assume quiet a few AFL players would have things like this throughout the season that noone finds out about.

Does give hope that his 2012 can be far better

For sure, I'd say most players during the finals series were playing with niggles or injuries, but it sounds like Maxwell had a horror season. When you know Maxwell is injury free he does usually play pretty well, I guess his problem is he plays injured too often and is pretty average at times as a result.

You think players would often play with leg fractures, shattered thumbs and broken knuckles?

Let alone return to football after a month from internal bleeding, kiddney and liver lascerations?

These aren't a sore shoulder, knee or muscle strains

Heroic in the end was Maxwell.
To think he was probably in the top 5 in the QF vs WCE as well, busted hand and all facing off undersized at CHB against giants like NicNat.

The leadership and courage that he showed by getting out there was worth its weight in gold.

I just hope his body can hold up another 2 years. There's only so long you can cop abuse like that.

Pendlebury and reid both played with fractured legs in the 2010 grand final. Didak with a pec torn off the bone. And those are only the ones we found out about, no doubt many more had serious injurys they played with

WTF?? I think you'll find it was 2009 and didn't play in the PF because of it.

Nick was also Buckley's best man at his wedding.

I don't see Maxwell being dropped regardless of his form, just like under MM he will get a free pass.
wasn't buckley's best man brendon sanderson?

seeing as Maxwell was drafted in the 2002 rookie draft and Buckley was married within 11 months of that, it seems odd that maxwell would usurp Buckley's long time best friend

or are you just making stuff up to suit your argument fox news style?

Pendlebury didn't play and Reid played a half on elephant juice.

Maxwell played games, multiple games!
