Had the privilege of meeting him on a few occasions. Great man!

Some people no matter what you throw at them you just can't break their spirit!

Just an incredibly selfless man.
On the footy side of Neale...his last qtr super human effort against Carlton has me LMAO still.

Gavin Wanganeen.
My favourite Bomber ever.
I had an obsession as a child which sill lingers. My brain shut out the part where he went to another club. Didn't happen. He's a Bomber!
Always lived in Melbourne but used to support SA in the SOO cos WANGANEEN!! Confused a lot of friends and family.
When I think good Essendon things that make me smile. I think Wanganeen.
Number 4 will always be my favourite.

Anzac Day 92. When Wanganeen kicked that goal from outside the50 10-year old me went ballistic. Fantastic mark by Kicket on the goal line at the other end to stop the draw was great as well

If you youtube that game there's a 40minute highlight video called comeback. 30minute mark = that wanganeen goal. Good times

I'm no good at internet things so i have no clue how to post the link to the video sorry

One of Hird's first contests in his first match back from getting his face caved in was going back with the flight of a the ball like a mad man. No regard for his own safety as per usual.

Say what you will about the bloke, he was pure inspiration on the footy field and that can never be denied.

Round 3 2004 against West Coast

We'd wasted a lead going into the last quarter. James Hird kicks 2 in the last quarter and with a snap from the boundary wins us the game.

Love the footage of Hird in his jubilation running to the fence and hugging a supporter.

I'm surprised Dodoro and his many jackets haven't been mentioned.

Winning the Melbourne game last year.

Hooksy re-signing, especially so quickly (y).

Josh Green's tackle on Sam Mitchell. (someone get a gif pls?)

Fantasia signing on for 3 more years after rumours of other clubs sniffing around. gagf.

Walla Walla Walla Walla Walla. Also that tackle on Dangerfield, smack! Human cannonball. And then the GWS guy that he helped back up after knocking him into the next century. haha.

Joe Daniher and Zach Merrett, the bromance and also the pact to make this club great again. And also their individual on-field efforts.
That tackle and Walla's on Selwood have made this year special. On Green's, I'm not sure but I think it's the possession chain that follows from that tackle and Green is at the other end of the field receiving. If he could work that hard more often...

2009 ANZAC Day. Paddy arrives after a cruel twist of fate and Zaharakis seals it in the dying seconds.

Also, the win over Freo in Perth after Hirdy had been through hell all week. 2013?

I didnt get to see much live footy as a kid but was at the G when Madden kicked his 500th goal. That was special - Kieren Sporn absolutely butchered some of the easiest shots you will get that day.

Apart from that, the day the Danihers all played together was a great Essendon day for me.

That was the first game I went to after 4 years living overseas. It's still like it happened yesterday. The roar at Hirdy's goal was awesome!

Quatermain commentary did it justice.

Final Story: 1984.

I watched the entire thing with a massive grin on my face. :)

Still my favourite day of football ever*. Stood in the outer all day, loved every ******* minute of it. Well the second half anyway.

Many highlights over the journey. Vanders first game back (after injuring his neck in a motorbike accident) against Richmond at Windy Hill. That game against West Coast at docklands. The '93 prelim, Timeeeeee.
'86 against the hawks. Been blessed.

GO DONS!!!!!!

*son's u12 flag aside ;).
