God damn hawk fans.

When will you guys get over us? Eagles fans are not making a deal out of it even though they could but there is nothing surer of a Hawthorn fan to come in and cry foul. Get over ya hatred. 3 weeks Good record get over it.

Bring up all the intentional punches from the melees. There are other teams other than Geelong mate

I'd say Geelong would still be a bigger threat to Collingwood than West Coast, especially in Melbourne. If the Grand Final was played at Subiaco then maybe West Coast would be a bigger threat.

In fact I'd say Hawthorn, Carlton and even St Kilda would be a bigger threat to Collingwood in Melbourne than West Coast would be.

Sums up exactly what I have been trying to say. :thumbsu:
By no means are West Coast a shoe-in for a top 4 spot. Are they an equal chance with Carlton and Hawthorn to claim a top 4 spot? Absolutely. So then, is a top 4 spot a 'lock' for West Coast? Absolutely not.
The Pies are that far ahead of the rest it's not funny; Geelong, a fit and injury-free Hawthorn, and possibly Carlton (although I believe the Blues are not) are also genuine contenders for a flag. West Coast are being considered a huge threat for the flag by many (some in this thread have even gone as far as saying they are 2nd to the Pies ATM), but I don't think they 100% fit the bracket of 'flag contenders' yet. Hawthorn and Carlton are still ahead of them IMO.
The hype surrounding West Coast just sums up how easy it is to get carried away after one week of footy.

how about 16 weeks of footy mate ;)

Although I agree that we are not a shoe in for top four, but we'll have a good crack.

This is what confuses me, who knows what's in store down the track. One week they are soft, week later your suspended for farting. And they should never go on medical evidence, it should be judged on the action only.
Do we need Geelong to have any more incentive to dive? Medical evidence is deemed necessary otherwise SJ and Chapman would spend too much time at the MRP giving evidence against other players.

didnt watch a lot of footy this weekend

#1 - Essendon are f'ing frustrating to watch.
#2 - Tigers have lost control of their mental demons. This week is a big one up at Metricon
#3 - Woosha is the messiah. Sorry Hirdy.
#4 - Eagles are a dangerous team when on. Ebert, Darling, Kennedy, Priddis. All nutters at the ball. very good backline too
#5 - Blues arent as bad as everyone is making out but the doggies have turned it around and found some gems in the process
#6 - Rising Star is a tough pick between Darling, Shuey, Heppell & Smith.
#7 - Ablett is more important to supercoach than gold coast.

Bozo by name, bozo by nature. Bay 13 is down a bit further. There you can find replies such as we want our players no where near didak. We won't be giving him a ride home after he gives evidence.

I'll believe it when he consistently takes marks and converts, thanks.

Takes alot of his marks outside scoring range, like he did on the weekend. One shot at goal for one goal.

Rest of his marks taken up the ground. Is equal 7th in the league for contested marks, ahead of both Nick and Jack Riewoldt. That suggests he consistently takes them.

All I can say is that if someone had told me at the start of the Season that we'd have as bad a run with injuries as the previous 2 years, and possibly even worse, but sat 11-4 and 3rd on the ladder after 15, I'd have fallen all over myself taking that...

Your previous years injuries were vastly overstated, mostly as an excuse for poor play since 08.

Granted, though, this years injuries are debilitating and the Hawks have been impressive in spite of that.

1. Holy cow, here comes the West Coast band wagon!

2. West Coast have become the great white hope in the battle against the magpies.

3. They totally tanked in 2010. There is no way that a team with Cox, LeCras, Kennedy, Kerr (I guess he missed most of the season), Priddis to name a few should have finished last.

4. West Coast rival Essendon and Carlton for the most fair weather fans.

5. West Coast are my new second favorite team.

With all due respect I find it quite ironic that the poster accuses someone of trolling and than comes up with even more cringe-worthy stuff. Apologies if its the lack of intellect at play.
And FWIW I don't recall the last time Didak has taken a dive while numerous dives by SJ and Chappy over the last few games spring to mind immediately.

People are getting a little carried away with West Coast. It is not hard to be where they are with the incredibly lucky run they have had with injuries this year. I think in recent weeks they have had pretty much there whole list available. When you compare that to say Freo who had 18 players unavailable a couple of weeks ago, including many of their front liners, it is not suprising they are where they are.

A couple of injuries in the next few weeks and watch West Coast slip back quickly. With injuries to some of there top players last year, look where they finished. I personally think Freo deserve a lot of kudos for being where they are with the injury run they have had all year.

Cox was severely underdone last season, had a very poor 2010. Kerr as you say only played 3 games, while LeCras played as a deep forward (whereas now he has a much bigger impact from the midfield with stints up forward and vice versa). Kennedy and Priddis were decent last season but have both improved vastly this year.

Embley was pretty bad last year too, Nicoski also was injured most of the year. I think Butler hardly played also. Shuey played 6 games for the year. It really does add up.

If things had gone as well last year for us as this year has (in terms of injuries etc) we'd probably have gotten close to finals (which would have been natural as we had come 11th the previous year and are 5th this year, 2010 is the massive odd year out).

By no means are West Coast a shoe-in for a top 4 spot. Are they an equal chance with Carlton and Hawthorn to claim a top 4 spot?

If you look at the run home though, thats not the case.

West Coast will move above Carlton this week. They will then be 2 pts (a game) clear, with a game in hand over Carlton. That is 2 games Carlton have to make up.

On paper, West Coast start favourties in every game for the remainder, with the only top 8 teams they play being Freo and Ess, who at subiaco are absolutely no chance in hell. Carlton need a whole lot to go right to make the 4.

In fact, its nearly impossible for them to do it without West Coast or Hawthorn falling in a hole, and most things going right for themselves. Very unlikely, but anything can happen.

Geelong are 3 games clear of them, but have a game on them and play Collingwood. Geelong wouldnt want another trip up, or West Coast will be well and truly pressuring them for than 2nd spot as funny as it looks right now.

This thinking is just ******ed. Freo have the injuries, West Coast do not.

Until they get some, then see how it actually effects them it is a waste of time.

If Collingwood end up with a similar injury list to Freo by finals it may shake the finals up a little too, but that is one big IF.

3. They totally tanked in 2010.

I don't think so, except perhaps the last couple of games when it was apparent they were going to get the spoon and fielded very young teams.

Last year they were at an age/experience disadvantage in most matches. Having quality, older players fit and firing has made the difference.

*Cant wait for our contract with Ethihad Finishes and we move to the MCG. all lost games have come from that pathetic ground
*Cooney has turned the corner and do not take the dogs lightly, this might be what they need... a quite run into September where everyone thinks they have no chance.
*Pies are so far ahead its not funny, theyd have to fall over to lose the p/ship(that being said we will beat the pies this week :))
*Cats are fine despite the 2 loses but they will be prime when the finals come around, a 4 week lay off for Selwood will do wonders for his body
*Reid is a gun(Swans)

How can this thinking be ******ed. I am just staing facts. Fremantle have had as many as 18 players out in some weeks, including their whole starting midfield in Sandilands, Barlow, Mundy, and McPhee in recent weeks. Their 3 most influential players listed above have missed at least half the season each. Add to this they have not had Moribito all year. Despite this they are still currently in the 8 above teams that some people rate. I think this is a fair effort. As some of these come back in the next few weeks who knows what they are capable of.

On the other hand West Coast have had a full list available to them for the majority of the year. In the last few games they have had all but 1 player on their whole list available to play. No other side has had any near this luxury. That is an awful lot of luck they have had. Any side that has their whole list on hand would be up where West Coast are, and looking as good, and this cannot be denied, except maybe the bottom couple. Look at the injury lists of all the clubs if you don't believe me. Can their luck continue - who knows. But I can tell you that 1 or 2 injuries will quickly bring them back to pack.

Collingwood and Geelong have managed to absorb injuries and remain where they are, but I don't think West Coast could do the same. You only have to look at last year's performance to confirm that.

Considering last year we had Glass, Kerr, Butler, Nicoski, Shuey & Cox injured, Lynch playing like shit and our young guys not handling pressure like they are now ie Schofield, Scooter, Ash Smith, Brad Ebert and so on.

But I can tell you that 1 or 2 injuries will quickly bring them back to pack.
Injuries always hurt, but saying 1 or 2 will bring us back to the pack is hyperbole in the extreme.

Kerr probably is out this weekend, guess its season over for us. Wrap it up boys, book an early september trip to Bali

Um, because this is your argument for saying people are getting ahead of themselves with West Coast.

Fact is, they havnt got the injuries so who cares. West Coast are travelling nicely which is why many are starting to see them as a serious contender.

And if you think just any club would be up where West Coast are based on injuries, and it can not be denied, then you are seriously deluded.

They have seriously good structure and are improving as the season is going, something your mob could only dream of no matter how often your supporters whinge about injuries.
