I assume the years were when I started supporting them?
Well in 99 I was 6 or 7 and I wouldn't have known what a treble was. I just starting supporting them because I got a shirt from Target for my B'day
I have been a Hawthorn member since 98'
In the soccer board I give my opinions, but most opposition supporters don't agree
Because, believe it or not, opinions can be wrong, and yours are.

Reverse parking is way, way, easier. ( I think this is because the steering is from the front) I reverse park every single time. Could almost do it with my eyes closed.
If I ever do try to drive straight in I always have to re-adjust.

I can't understand why people reverse park into any parking spot. It takes them longer & usually many attempts to get it right, it's much easier to drive in & reverse out. Don't know when or why this style of parking started.
yes its easier to go straight in and out, but if you can reverse parking is safer... why? safer to come out as you can see everything left and right.

the only time i dont do it is when requirement to take out pram etc is there

Surely it is, otherwise it would take a 3 point turn or more to get in there, or you'd have to be on the opposite side of the road...

wouldn't angled spots be best if they faced the direction of the traffic (for leaving). so you go up, reverse into it, and then you go out facing forwards and you've got a better view of the road when you leave? i reckon i'd find it easier then.

i don't think any angled parking works like that?

I don't understand parking, period. To this day, ever since I began driving over 5 years ago, I have never parked between two cars. I'm that bad; I don't even try any more.

Note: I learnt to drive in my mother's Commodore and those things are ungodly large so that frightened me off very quickly.

No offence, but you probably shouldn't have a licence.

not really. if someone knows their limitations and avoids them then is no problem there.

much better those drivers than those who think their driving ability has no limitations, of which there are plenty around.

not being able to park between two cars isn't as essential as not knowing the reasons behind indicating. it would just be a massive inconvenience for him, especially in busy roads.

EDIT: as an example my dad elderly aunt (my grandma's sister), can not handle roundabouts. i don't think she's driven for about 10 years now but when she was driving she just avoided them. **** knows how she got around.

Never lost a point, received a fine, been pulled over, or been involved in an accident. I'm a menace.
That's good, but it's not the point. I'm not meaning to sound rude about it, I'm just saying that if you can't park between cars it's because you can't control your car properly. It's a basic thing that everyone who has a licence should be able to do.

When someone's limitations is that they can't steer their car properly, then there is a problem. If you can't park properly, you should never receive a licence to drive in the first place.

I avoid parking between other cars as much as I can because I don't trust other drivers not to hit my car when they pull out, park 10cm way from my driver side door when they park etc., but provided other cars have managed to actually park within the lines of the parking bays then parking between them is really not difficult.

I'd be pretty uncomfortable driving with someone who did not know how to park.

My perfect reverse parallel park during my driving test says otherwise, although that was more than 3 years ago now. I think it's more of a laziness thing than anything - if I'm not 100% confident I won't try. I'm not afraid of an extra 50m walk to the shops. I choose to drive well within my limitations. I should probably add I have no problem parking within the lines, I'm perfectly within the lines when I park at the vacant far corner of the carpark at the shops :thumbsu: *

If I was one of those ****heads doing 100 on 60km/h suburban streets and wrapping myself around a light pole, then I'd deserve to lose my license.

Oh, you'll love this too - I have an automatic license.

*(Don't worry, I'm not seriously claiming this as any kind of achievement)

it's a pretty big generalisation on his driving. i can well see how a person can be an otherwise fine driver but not be able to park in confined spaces. in fact there are plenty of these people around. i wish they would have taken the same route and just avoid it, because if they had i wouldn't have an ugly scratch mark on the front right of my car.

If you can't park properly, you should never receive a licence to drive in the first place.
this is probably more closer to the truth cause part of the l's => p's test in nsw is to reverse park, however they generally send you to a spot with such a huge gap it would not be considered between two cars. i remember in mine i had about a 15 metre gap to work with behind me.

You did say that you are that bad, that you don't even try. That's what I was responding to.

Of course someone speeding like that should lose their licence. That's not the point of this conversation though.

It's not a generalisation on his driving when he says that he is that bad that he can't park between two cars. That fact that there are so many other people around that can't drive either doesn't make it any better either!

It's changed now to laziness, which is a different thing.

Good point, I've contradicted myself here. I believe I am that bad. I hate the thought of being one of those people who hold up an entire road or carpark while they take five minutes to park their car. Although I seriously doubt my ability has improved in my three years of completely avoiding it. Allow me to summarise: bad parker, competent driver.

Send her to Canberra, or Tassie, for a week. Mind you, nobody can handle the Borooker roundabout in Hobart. That thing is the most amazingly shitenhausen smalltown road invention ever.

Same here. Bad parker but good driver. However DrVanNostrand are you talking about reverve parking or even normal parking?
Surely you can park normally. It's just like turning into a street or something

Reverse parking I'm sure I could probably learn but I have no need for it with a small car

I have a friend who won't turn right unless there are traffic lights. She turns left & drives in the opposite direction she wants to go, until she gets to lights so she can do a U Turn.
LOL. What is this? Is she the zoolander of driving or something?

As if you don't just make the right turn for ffs.

What if she is on residential road where there are no lights?

I've never reverse parked except for my driving test. I generally avoid front-in parking between two cars in a carpark if I can avoid it. Not for a second do I think I'd hit another car, but I'm dodgy enough to leave myself about 10cm to squeeze out the window. Can't wait to get a small car and be able to park anywhere - I simply inherited my mother's Commodore when I got my licence. It's the size of a tugboat FFS.
