The interactions with not only the Dr's but the staff is far more respectful, caring and relaxed. The behaviour in the waiting rooms of the patients is far more civilised, there is no anger/aggression towards staff or sign of one persons issue being above that of another (its happened where a parent has had a sick child and the receptionist has asked several people if they mind being pushed back in the queue, no problems). If a persons phone rings they more often than not, switch it off or walk outside to answer.

Maybe it's as much a cultural thing as a socio economic thing but I also have frequented many middle eastern eateries where the opposite of the above is true.

I've touched briefly on similar things in my social science degree but nothing involved with research, unfortunately I'm stuck doing pointless units like media & communcations and the like which don't leave much room for reading journals.

What was your thesis on?
Sounds about right. :$ I sat through some absolutely garbage units in my psych degree as well. First year was essentially a repeat of year 12 then a bunch of irrelevant electives.

Thesis wasn't closely related; more looking at the different ways in which cognitive impairment after stroke is experienced, understood and handled across cultures. I'm more interested in the neuropsych side of things than the social side but it had a good mix of both. Had to look into the different relationships/communication between health professionals and clients of different cultures as a possible reason for the differences we found though.

Metal-handled saucepans and frying pans.

The **** is the point of a handle you can't touch?
Has caught me out a few times as well.
Brilliant things, sear off the meat on stove top then put straight in the oven. Can't put no rubber handled rubbish in the oven. And if you're using a decent quality saucepan just on the stove top there shouldn't be any heat transference to the handle.

Mine must be a cheapie then. Although if i grab the handle towards the end its not too bad.

I don't understand if this is serious or not

PRETTY IN PINK
The City of Perth have implemented "female-friendly" car bays in a Pier Street carpark.
Car bays are painted pink, have better lighting, are closer to exits and will have CCTV.
What do you think of the move?
