Firstly - all African nations cup games are very defensive - the midfields cancel each other out and their are very few goals scored. No strikers have any impact.

And secondly - he scored against Argentina at the last World Cup and Brazil at this World Cup. Are they minnows?

That sort of disproves the minnow bashing thing.

Anyway

Mate you're just talking shit. He has 45 goals, in 71 games for his national team. Has a good record against all countries and you're just hating on the guy for the sake of it.

And for Chelsea? He scores against everyone. Arsenal aren't minnows (and alot of his goals are of supreme talent/skill, not tap ins) and the other top teams as well. Alot of good goals, against good teams.
Well read my post properly first, as you're last paragraph is not even about anything I mentioned.

- Not once did I mention his games for Chelsea. I stated Chelsea > Ivory Coast in terms of teammates in his respective club and international sides.

- It's pretty obvious that he is a proific scorer for Chelsea, I never denied that or even mentioned it, as every man and his dog know that.

- I mentioned his goal against a quality outfit like Argentina at the World Cup, but the fact of the matter is that he is just not as efficient in the Ivory Coast national team, most of his international goals come when playing inferior outfits like Mali and Benin, to name a couple.

- African teams are defensive minded but so are most of the Premier League sides, and he doesn't have a problem scoring against any side in the Premier League.

huh? I did read your post.

1. I mentioned Chelsea and was specific about the type of goals WHICH HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH HIS TEAMMATES. Just pieces of individual skill scored against some of the best sides in the world.

2. I was highlighting all the goals mentioned against quality international sides - you mentioned him not being able to score against Nigeria and Ghana.... WHEN HE HAS SCORED AGAINST NIGERIA AND GHANA.

3. He has started 4 World Cup games and scored 2 goals - 1 against Brazil and the other against Argentina. I think that's good enough.

4. You mentioned goals he's scored in the ANC against weaker sides but ignored the ones he's scored against the better sides. Every international player in the world has goals against weaker countries, and like those others Drogba has goals against the better ones. You're trying to make a point that just isn't there to be made. And every players international record is improved by performances against weaker nations.
The fact remains though - under scrutiny your original points and the ones you're still trying to make just don't hold up.
He's scored against Ghana and Nigeria.
And Brazil and Argentina at consecutive World Cups and has a wonderful strike rate for his country comparable to any other striker - and infact it's actually a brilliant international record.

Not scoring in every game doesn't make a player soft. Your original point was random and ridiculous. You just don't like the guy, entered the thread, thought to yourself I'll trash him and came out with something completely random that I hope you truly know is absolute crap. Like I do when I do the same thing.

He has an excellent international record. That is fact. It is arguably more impressive than his club record.
