Born 19 March 1908. So he was age 6-10 during WWI, in his 20s during the Great Depression, in his 30s during WWII. That's some kind of life even before everything that has happened since WWII - and let's be honest anyone who was around and can remember WWII is considered old in 2020.

Granted memories fade with time but I can remember 6-10 pretty vividly. So it's not like he was alive for WWI but 3 years old by the end of it or anything.
