Things that please me - Part 5

^ Some JBs can be hit and miss. Like 20% off movies some stores just take the price off the tag on the case.. which sucks if it's any old old old price. I've pointed out the correct (cheaper) price on the website, that then gets put through properly (phew).
Workmate (in her 20s) commented today she wanted to get a DVD player and DVDs..

Was almost speechless.

Physical media making a comeback isn't something I had on my bingo card.

Whoever is buying cassettes needs their head read though.
Nothing worse than leaving a mixtape in the windscreen of your car on a hot day

I was going out with someone who was a massive Prince fan and had bought him the 12" of Raspberry Beret which I left in the car on a hot day and turned it into an ashtray

I do this too. Google is your friend. Works great for stores like JB Hifi where they are constantly changing stuff but have good systems. Do like the self scanner things they have at Kmart, Big W etc. Bit of roulette to see whether something you think is around $20 comes out at $50 or $4.

I have a parka from Myer that was stupidly discounted. Was on a rack with a bunch of stuff with some vaguely worded sign and everything else was $99 ticket price and on sale for $49 and this one thing (same brand, different product) was $249. I assumed someone just put it there because customers are people and people are animals. Turns out it was correct. Dude at the till was shocked that something was 80% off.

Definitely not as good a deal as that, but I bought some sheets from Big W that were on special. When I scanned it they were a lot higher than I expected so o quizzed the checkout person. They went and checked and it turned out they were either on the wrong shelf or they’d put the sales tag on the wrong item.

But because there were others still there they gave it to me for the cheaper price.

Yeah that’s a droppable offence

Big W is a bit all over the shop. I bought a couple of plastic containers that were only $4 or $5 each. No reduced tickets or sale signs anywhere and they scanned at 80c or something comically low. It pleases me that it's like 1990s Kmart and they still sell some OK quality products, not just a $2 Anko version of everything you can think of.

Nothing wrong with physical media - I still buy DVDs, blurays and 4ks.... then rip them and play them off hard drives. My own personal Netflix :p

The only physical media worth buying is vinyl. The covers are art. You get sleeves and inserts with photos and lyric sheets. When you have friends over it's fun to browse through your collection. I buy good condition originals which are an improving asset.

Agreed. I love that I still have about 50 or 60 CDs with the cases, booklets with lyrics etc. but I'm not going to buy any more unless I randomly see some great albums at a Salvo's or something. Vinyl is just cool.

i can have 1 CD in my current car and once a month or so i go to opshop and grab a $1 CD for times i dont stream
currently i have Queens greatest hits album.
previously i had movie theme songs fromthe 1980s, some george michael, an elton john greatest hits and some compilation one from mid 90s.
always on look out for Prince albums

Wouldn't they be scratched AF tho and not work?

Quite a few of my CDs got scratched. I bought a spinny gadget cleaner thing but it didn't work. The plastic boxes tend to break too.

The CD player in my car stopped working so I got a device that Bluetooths with Spotify on my phone then broadcasts a signal that the radio can pick up. I was a lazy campaigner and left it on the default frequency. Sometimes at the lights it picks up a nearby car's songs.

Finally got around to doing a homebrew on the weekend, got into it over COVID but lost interest once we opened up, very time consuming. Anyway it cost me $60 and will probably do 2 and a half slabs, good all grain stuff too so is worth it.

A nightclub here got caught for selling home-brew drinks..moonshine 😅🥃🫗.

just booked a 4 day, 3 night trip to Melbourne town. mid July. no SUNS game that weekend (they play in Adelaide), but will get along to a game at marvel and one at MCG. was only weekend both my gf and i could do it, prior to house settlement
Footy at AO is better than footy at marvel imo.
What you crazy kids got planned?

yeh i have watched a game at AO the first year it opened. was pretty good as was my 3 days in adelaide/barossa

plenty of coffee, eating, some shopping - typical tourists stuff. as its so short, i probably wont bother catching up with my relatives this time around, just lose too much finite time.

so with that, hit me locals with some cafes and restaurants/bars to go to in the inner suburbs
