Exactly 50 years ago today I arrived in Australia for the first time on a jumbo jet filled with American teachers. I was assigned to teach at Avondale High School. I had planned on staying for two years, but stayed for 25, three and a half at AHS and then teaching in Catholic schools in Box Hill, Ringwood, Salter Point WA and Bundoora.

I retired from teaching in 2000 and returned to the US for the next 17 years being caregiver to my elderly parents. I returned to Australia in May 2017 to spend my final years in the country that I learned to love. I am now living in a retirement village due to my health.

I never would have imagined on that arrival day in 1975, that I would be here 50 years later. Best decision I have ever made. That indeed, pleases me.

I told a workmate about a song by Female artist called Peaches. (not BF friendly)
As soon as I said it I'm oh shite I prob shouldn't said that I'm going to hell.

Last week he said hey Rocker I listen to that song and played it at my mates house and one of my friends sent to to his GF.
I'm ummm scared of the outcome ok so what did you think.

Ohhh we loved it got anymore of them .

I did find it funny on the UK show sex ed they used that song at the school gig lol.

Keeping up the family streak of winning prizes in the Cookery Competition at the Royal Adelaide Show. I won some in 2017 - 2019. The Show was cancelled due to COVID in 2020/2021. My daughter won a couple of prizes in 2022 and 2023. Then I won a couple again last year and this year. Considering one was something I hadn't tried making before, I'm chuffed that it happened to work out.

I made a mixed berry jam, granola, focaccia, and savoury muffins that didn't win prizes. I got a second for my traditional rock buns, and a first for my strawberry and lemon myrtle jam.
