People still use ovens?

Air fryer and BBQ here - can't remember the last time I used the oven

Use the oven all the time. Air Fryer gets a bit of a workout. I haven't used a BBQ in years.

Mine have become air fryer and/or bbq majority of the time

I've got a Weber Q & a Kettle - I haven't used the Kettle in forever but looking at resurrecting it to try slow cooking/smoking some brisket. The Weber Q gets a lot more use - cooking steaks, chicken, fish or whatever I want to grill, plus I've got frypans for it which get use for cooking tomatoes, mushrooms, confit duck legs etc

I'm thinking that the last time I used my oven was to try cooking a roast pork but after turning up the heat for the cracking the baking dish cracked in half

So after that failure I went back to the air fryer for most of that type of cooking, plus I've learnt it's pretty good for things like sausages, fish, schnitzel etc - getting stuff nice & crispy on the outside with minimal effort needed

I wonder if I can convince my partner they need to start using the smoker again

I was trying to work out if I should buy a smoker but then remembered there's a kettle bbq that would likely do a similar job without needing to fork out money for something that may not get the usage to justify the purchase cost

Everything cooked in it tastes so good

It's probably not good for you

Plenty of stuff doesn't fit in our air fryer

Don't have that problem. I've done a 1.8kg rolled pork shoulder + roast veg in this. So glad we got it in NZ. Had never really heard of air fryers until we were faced with only having a cooktop and microwave for months. ****ing brilliant. I've never been able to get crackling on a pork roast in the oven, nail it every time in the ninj. How much did we like it? Brought it back with us as excess baggage for $95 rather than sell it and buy another over here.

I started with the cheap Kmart basket version and recently upgraded to this

Being able to cook on one side, both or remove the divider for a wider option has been a really nice addition

Cooked one of those Peking duck breasts that you can get from the supermarket in the basket tonight - came out perfectly cooked to go really nicely with salad which was made in the time it took to cook the duck

We have the cheap Kmart basket version :D

All the numbers have rubbed off the dials so you're putting dials to where you think the numbers used to be

Air fryers are overrated. Convenient and way more efficient heating up a small basket instead of a whole oven if you are just doing some chips or re-heating something small but you can't beat a proper oven with a heavy based roasting dish.

I have a little toaster oven also which is pretty similar to one of the air fryers above with the glass doors. If I'm making cheese on toast or something I want to watch like a hawk. If it's just chips I am happy to throw them in the basket and give it a shake half way through.

Agree a decent oven is better imo.
I mean how many kitchen gadgets do we really need .

One place I was staying at i either couldn't use the oven or no oven tray.
So cooked steak and thick chips in the fry pan worked well.

I put the deep fry outside.
Was going well till the dogs knocked it over.
One time.

My son's elite comeback to me the other night. I can't quite remember the conversation but I said something like "oh I suppose you think I should go in the World's Biggest Butthead competition wouldn't you?"

Quick as a flash he said "uh no, they wouldn't let you compete, they'd say no professionals!" I lost it, **** yes he does have a bit of smartarse in him!
