My old man can sing tenor but I still can not stand Opera.

These days I would also much prefer to watch the movie than read the book, more due to time constraints than anything else. I was an avid reader as a youngster.

Opera is a guilty pleasure of mine. I spend more of my disposable income than I can justify on tickets.

I have no idea what I am going to do when I turn 30 and lose my access to the Youth subscriptions for all this stuff.

My missus dragged me along to see 'boy from oz' on broadway back in 2004 when Hugh Jackman was in it and I really liked it.

Speaking to the yank chick sitting next to me who was in her mid 20's, said that she had seen the show nearly 40 times

I hated my first job, used to despise having to even walk through the door. These days, I'm quite enjoying work and actually look forward to doing my shift and earning my money.

Complete opposite. I don't have the attention span to sit and watch a movie on my own at home. A book, on the other hand, I can lie and read for hours at a time without pausing. Just finished two Nick Hornby's that my dad recommended (good stories, a bit cynical though) in the last 5 days.

I like musical theatre but I really hated Chicago for some reason. Maybe it's because I saw the movie - I've never really liked many film adaptions of musicals.

Matilda is currently doing its first run on Broadway - that would be my pick if I was there. However, Phantom and The Lion King are must-sees if you haven't been to them previously.

I really liked Wicked as well. Haven't seen Jersey Boys or Mamma Mia! but I hear they're fantastic.

The Lion King was fantastic.

Was one of them High Fidelity? Entertaining book.

Also agree what you said RE working - I wouldn't say I love my job but I do get a certain amount of satisfaction from it. Makes such a difference when you don't dread going to work - instead it just becomes another thing you do rather than a chore.

Juliet Naked, A Long Way Down and just started on How to be Good. High Fidelity next up.

I walked past the theatre doing Matilda on the weekend, it's not actually running yet. Preview showings start next month. The Lion King is another one I want to see, it's extremely popular.

I saw Jersey Boys on Broadway last year, it's my favourite show (I'm a big Four Seasons fan though), I saw it 3 times in Melbourne as well.

Juliet Naked was great, Fever Pitch would be my favourite Hornby and IMO one of the better sporting books ever written.

Fever pitch is great, It really gives a great insight into what it's like to be a fan. Although seeing as though HFF is a spurs supporter he may not like it as much

I'm in no rush to read Fever Pitch, but my dad is a huge Spurs fan too and he swears by it as a read.

Unfortunately not, artistic creativity I suppose.
False advertising reminds of this

Interviewer: You've held the record for books sold, I think it was 12 million, I think, with Deathly Hollows, the last one.
  • J.K.: Really, was it?
  • Interviewer: But I believe, tragically, your record has been overtaken...
  • J.K.: ...by 50 Shades of Grey.
  • Interviewer: 50 Shades of Grey indeed.
  • J.K.: Just think how many books I could've sold if Harry had been a bit more creative with his wand.

The lowest selling Harry Potter book sold 90 million more copies than best Twilight book.

Nobody can **** with Harry Potter. Nobody.

Paypass.

Has to be the most underrated technological advancement of the past 10-20 years. Incredibly handy and so efficient. I actively avoid shops that don't have it now and spend far more at shops that do have it. Went to a different butcher than the usual last night and not only did they not have paypass, they had a $10 minimum on EFTPOS. Will probably avoid from now, just out of principle, even though the steak was just incredible.

I'm the biggest spender ever as a rule...BUT.

I've made a fair bit of money this week, and for the first time in my life, I'm happy for it to sit in my drawer and multiply for the next few weeks.

Small achievements FTW.
