Last week my wife finally got around to donating blood. She'd been meaning to do it. Canadian Blood Services just called her and they were excited because she is the universal blood-type O negative. Apparently only 7% of population are.

They wanted to schedule her again as soon as she's eligible and said her donation already saved a life. Thats pretty cool. Maybe they say that to everyone. Still, worth doing. I hate giving blood but might have to go do it myself.

I'm ineligible due to spending 6 months+ in the UK between 1980 and 1996.

Shame really, I'd be happy to donate (no idea what blood type I am) and I don't do drugs, have tattoos etc. and am reasonably sure I don't have BSE (mad cow).

The biscuit is actually decidedly average, but you get the smug satisfaction of getting something relatively few people get.

Seriously though, it's the easiest thing in the world to give to someone who definitely needs it more than you.
