Boggles the mind that at 38 your not embarrassed to lob into someones home who is graciously taking you in and then act like a teenager.
Eh, evolution for ya.

SA Labor acting like the mining industry's bitch.
well when your brother is a prominent mining industry lobbyist maybe its more about self interest

Been taking Nurofen and Panadol for 3 weeks for a mouth issue. Dentist today put me onto paracetamol + codeine as the pain is so bad (got no sleep last night and 6 nurofen and 4 panadol in the space of 2 hours did nothing). It is doing the grand total of sweet * all despite taking twice the dosage (still a safe amount) as he prescribed. I have to wait until Thursday next week to see a specialist and then god knows how long after that to get it fixed. This is going to be ******* torture.

Being told that the job you've been offered months ago and have effectively been doing needs to actually be advertised before a contract can be signed

It’s pretty much standard practice so that should an appointment be challenged they are able to show they followed process

You can normally tell if they already have a candidate in mind when there’s a short advertising period. We normally do 5 working days

1. Waiting for an x ray for 40 mins
2. Waiting for an x ray for 40 mins whilst the 4 year old behind me is playing Baby Shark on repeat.
My three year old is into that Baby Shark series on YouTube (Pink Fong), where you can find 300 minute episodes, that sort of thing. Can’t wait for that phase to be over. The Disney/Pixar phase was pretty enjoyable, I'd be happy to go back to that.

Mate of mine who works at a big 4 bank had a similar situation, though they had to wait for a quota of female candidates before they could give him the job he was doing and was going to get officially.

Yeah it's always a little bit stressful and maybe even a bit insulting to be in that situation, but when you see a friend or colleague in the same position, you have a chance to look at it more pragmatically.

Assuming you are competing with others for the job that you're currently doing effectively. You have an enormous competitive advantage simply by already being in the chair. Being on the other side of it, it'd take something absolutely extraordinary for an outsider to supplant an incumbent, it's just a massive hassle to do more induction, showing the ropes, getting someone familiar with the systems, you wouldnt do it if you already have someone performing in the role.

Maybe I'm kidding myself but having that exposure to how it works from the hiring manager's side, I've often thought in those interviews where I genuinely thought I had a great interview and was a natural fit for a role but still missed out: "Oh well, they probably had an internal hire earmarked anyway and I never really had a shot."

Is it standard practice to be offered the job 3 different times over a 6 month period, tentatively say "yes but I need actual details on job description, salary etc", hire your own replacement on a higher salary than you are on and still not actually get any of those details, let alone get the job?

I am well aware that I have somewhat brought it upon myself by having already started to do the work and not being more insistent about the formalities, but its hard not to feel insulted by the situation.

I am not sure what I am going to say when it takes HR 3 or 4 more weeks before they present me with what is guaranteed to be a low-ball offer and it doesn't include half the things the department manager offered

My form at Coles this morning. Lined up at the checkout, put my bags down near the end, looked up and the checkout chick is still scanning stuff. Look to my right and there's an old fella standing there waiting for his stuff to be put through. Basically I've barged in like I owned the joint and completely ignored him!

I apologised profusely, old boy didn't GAF, "still early mate maybe you're half asleep", yeah pretty embarrassing ha ha

Tongue is absolutely burnt to pieces from taking a bite out of some street vendors takoyaki ball. I seriously want to sue the guy, you cannot be serving that stuff that hot (like actual temperature) as to go food.
Your clubs lawyer would probably win that case they way they’re smashing the tribunal
