isn't the whole point of ebay to buy items cheap?
Yep but when i mean cheap i mean 1 buck for an item that is actually worth 2nd hand 350 bucks.I dont expect to get that but i am not selling it for $4.45. I can understand for really crappy flea market stuff or shit people want to off load, but not for good quality items.

And then when someone else bids a nice amount the same arseholes bid another buck!

I mean what a waste of everyones time.

Can't you set a starting minimum bid price?

I think this is just a function of the auto-bid system. I know that when I put my bids in I set the maximum I am prepared to spend, and it automatically outbids any other bidders by $1 until my limit is reached.

I used to set it at 99 cents when i first started to be fair. Now i set it at 5 bucks just to speed up the process but i still get 50 cent bids.

Again if the items i was selling was absolute junk not even worth a buck OK but not on items that have some value.

I use ebay becasue i now get 30 free listings a month..sure ebay take a cut of my sales..but it's better than buying classified space and then not selling the item.

Plus there is a real big demand for vintage cameras and photographic gear on ebay.

Some builder building a house 2 doors away from me singing really loudly and terribly. It's incredibly annoying.
So far he's given beautiful renditions of Backstreet's back, Take on me and Khe Sanh.
Edit: Tainted love may be our new leader. Although he gave the Richmond theme song a fair crack.

had my first peakhour myki experience yesterday.... yeah that works a whole lot better than the old system

queuing 3-4 minutes just to "touch off" at a suburban station. it's not long but who needs that wait at the end of a work day when 6 months ago all they had to was walk straight out of the station.

having only 2 touch-on/touch-off points at mos suburban stations is ******* stupid

I still just walk straight out of the station with a myki pass

How do you touch on then on your return trip?
So I have:
  • Morning: touch on at home station (zone 2)
  • Touch off at Parliament (zone 1)
  • Afternoon: Touch on at Parliament
  • Get off the train at home station and walk straight out
  • Repeat the next day
It works because I live in zone 2 so I already pay the maximum fare. When I touch on the next day, it says 'default fare deducted' but because I have already prepaid (and live in the outer zone) nothing is deducted.

I don't know if this would work with myki passes if you live in zone 1 though

that works fine, as it was explained to me anyway... the station i was in was zone 1 so yeah if you just walk straight out you'll cop a massive whack as if you went through to zone 2....

money should have been spent on upgrading the train system, THEN look at a new ticketing system imo.
