Why were they even commenting on your family in the first place?
i guess it was a social gathering, perhaps making conversation i guess. we all live in the same street and know each other fairly well.

Or them not having the courage to state said opinions unless they can hide behind alcohol
i think they would have said it, however using bring drunk/tipsy as an excuse is poor isnt it? guess alcohol gives you courage knowing you can blame behaviour on it

but i appreciate your comment/post.

Parents that send their sick kids to daycare, kindy, school etc. Leave them at home for **** sake. Used to be able to go a year or 2 without vomiting. Twice in a month now thanks to some sickness the kids picked up at daycare/kindy.

Now that I think about it, I honestly can't remember the last time I genuinely vomited

The problem is the lack of support in the workplace when kids are sick - with jobs being tough to get, you can't afford to take time off every time your kids get sick. As terrible as that is for care givers and teachers, that's the reality that parents face

My folks were lucky like that, my gran lived in a granny flat in our backyard so they were able to leave us at home from a young age knowing that if the shit hit the fan the fan the old girl would be there. It also allowed them to get away with their loving neglect style of parenting.

I'm with peternorth

I do some stupid things when I'm pissed but I don't hide behind alcohol and use it as an excuse. Apologise for a remark if it's required, but I think it's pretty shit to apologise and then say it was only the alcohol talking.
gratitude. that is why you are one of my fave posters.

I refuse to accept any apology that has a BUT to it
a valid point.

Know a person who has recently changed careers and now works as a travel agent selling holidays. It's great that they've done this, but it's turned this person into a right pain in the arse. Every time she opens her mouth she's trying to sell someone a damn holiday deal/package. Give it a rest.

Reminds me of people who used to do Amway and that'd be all they'd talk about before people had had enough of their shit.

Will be booking a holiday for the end of the year and I'll deliberately not deal through this woman....

And when I say that I don't mean that I sit around and only listen to Bob Seger, I go out and love clubbing and house etc and I love going to things like Groovin and seeing all these new upcoming bands.
But wtf is the shit that gets spewed out on the radio a dozen times a day, absolute cancer.

I thought travel agents would have been a thing of the past by now but people still use them. I'm not sure why.
I sort of think this, but a decent one can do what you want to do, some times more efficiently and generally cheaper because of that efficiency. For people who aren't used to organising their own trip, it's peace of mind more than anything.

I will typically try to do my own organising, find out what I want to do and then run it into an STA and have a chat with them. Then talk down their (mostly) superior travel insurance.

The main reason I think is that if anything goes wrong on your travels, you can ring your travel agent and they can try and solve it for you. It's worth paying that bit extra. My mum is one and the amount of times she'll be on the computer and midnight trying to solve problems for clients overseas is staggering. It's also easier getting someone else who knows what they are doing to organise everything rather than doing it yourself.
