They pose as Microsoft or something right? My mum got it a few times and they hung up as soon as she asks if they would like to call back and speak to her computer geek son (yeah thanks mum...). I got them once and played along for a bit and yeah basically they get you to activate remote access and let them into your system, was fun playing along for a bit until they couldn't understand why it wasn't working... Shame he clued on that I was taking the piss when I instead tried to start sussing out his details to remote access their desktop instead, well then or when I asked for clarification on if it actually works with Windows 3.1...

That's them. Windows 3.1, that's brilliant. It's fun taking the piss and it takes them ages to clue on. The second time they called and said "r for roger" I convinced him I found Roger to be a very offensive term, he apologised profusely and continued telling me what to do

Yeah I'm rather disappointed I get to take so few telemarketers, they are always good fun, those ones especially I want to see how far I can push it before one hangs up.

I recently read an article about this, some poor elderly people fall for it. They claim they're from Windows (they don't say MICROSOFT Windows, just windows) they even have a second person there to pose as the 'manager' to seem more legit.

There's stories about people giving them hundreds of dollars and when they refuse to pay any more they get locked out of their own computers.

Do the Seinfeld move.
Ask him for his number and you'll call him back when it's convenient for you.
I've done it a few times and it has worked every time.
Did this once.

The guy was like "I can't give out the number" blah blah. I'm like "what so you can call me when it's convenient for you, but I can't do the same?" He's like "sir, this is a private number" etc. Raged a bit more out of fun then just hung up.

There's a bit of road near where I live that always floods when it properly rains (for 2 days or more), all the locals are constantly complaining about it needing to be fixed/raised so it doesn't flood. Council agrees to fix it, but leaves it alone all year and then starts working on it in summer (when 90% of the annual rain we get falls).

Surprise surprise works have continually been halted and setback because it rains every second day. Previously we've had months of little to no rain. Nfi why they waited till now

Years ago i ( somehow ) got my tongue twisted and stuck in my braces , no matter what we tried we couldn't fix , so i did what most 13 year old boys do....punched a hole in the wall....my old man thumped me upside the head ( which dislodged my tongue )...and THAT was far more enjoyable than Pickering the mongol

Get home during the middle of the Shawshank Remdemption. Haven't seen it since I was like 10 lol and I didn't really understand it then
Sensational movie. Not really directed at 10 year olds though.

I watched American Beauty when i was in my mid teens and i really didn't understand it and though it was crap. When I next watched in my mid 20's the more pertinent and poignant themes of the movie resonated a lot more and it has become one of my favourite movies, although one i have only re watched a couple of times since for whatever reason.

I saw that movie in Slough with the wife of a mate of mine. I was mildly disturbed when she howled like a banshee at the scene when Spacey's wife wakes up to find him having a wank.
It was a Virgin cinema, it used to call itself the only virgin in Slough.

If you don't support the war invasion in Iraq and Afghanistan, you're branded as being anti-American, or support terrorism, or an ungrateful australian/other country, if you support health care in the U.S, you're a communist.

Rumsfield and Powell are liars, had no right to be in Iraq.

Reading a 1500 long post on facebook and anyone who dares challenge the war, gets absolutely destroyed, and personally attacked.

Why are Americans so bloody arrogant, and ignorant. They have invaded 50 countries since 1945(grosman). War is not the only solution.

Back in 2003 sure when the War propaganda was up and running and the Conservative Media was well on board. Now I think the popular opinion is what a major fu&^ up its been. Our troops have now returned home, which would be a popular opinion I'd say.

On the health care thing this has baffled me. The US, under Obama and other jurisdictions are minutely very minutely trying to implement change and regulation away from the winner take all mentality. Yet when certain sections of Australia try to make a case for going the other way and reducing Australian Public Services this weird comparison/juxtaposition with the USA tends to be made.

Also costs a shit load. The US can't afford any more wars, so will either have to do it by proxy or go isolationist. They will pick fights they can overpower their enemy in, but if the global situation went ar** up quickly to a WW3 type doomsday I don't know what the US would be able to do.

Sometimes war is the answer, I can't think of too many was that Hitler (no Godwin) could have been contained, but clearly this is an exception.
The Iraq was a disgrace, and those that were complicit it are criminal by their actions. We were knowingly lied to by our leaders into legitimising a war that had no legitimacy in law, and not only did we allow them to do so, by in large we awarded them by re-electing them at the next election. I have literally never seen anything like it.
Afghanistan, there is a hackneyed argument that goes something The Taliban, something, something September 11, something al Qaeda, but it's flimsy at best.
All those who prosecuted these wars have become fabulously wealthy as a result of them though, which must be nice for them.
You should read about American Exceptionalism, it will probably go someway, if that's possible, to explaining why on earth a vast swathe of Americans do not believe in universal healthcare.

Do you think all of this has something to do with the establishment of the united states, around the 19th century? gold rush, railways etc. The country became a land of resources, and set the theme for mass capitalism, along with the fact that they took full advantage of slavery. I did see a documentary recently about the mass colonisation during this period.
