that is a huge, but the biggest thing for me is the variance between a well played shot and a shot where your swing is out by only 5-10%. slightly off and you can slice it 30 metres off the fairway.... then you can play a great shot off the tee but put it straight in the bunker, and two holes later you can toe a shot and it dribbles 150 metres straight down the fair way and doesn't work out too badly. and we haven't even got to what happens on the greens yet...

long term a players overall skill level will shine through, but there can be mass variance on a single stroke in terms of how you execute and the luck of where the ball finishes. that wreaks mental havoc with you. anyone that plays poker will understand that concept pretty well.
well said. the word you posted "variance" hits the nail on the head. there is bugger all margin for error.

Outside of AFL, I cant get as passionate about any other sport despite many attempts at NBA, NRL, Prem League....probably because of following Norf from when I was 5 yrs old & had so many great experiences.

I can get excited about individual players that come along in Tennis, V8's, F1 and the Aust Cricket Team.

All the rest is like watching paint dry.

I was watching little Prince Tubby at his playdate in NZ, it will probably be one of the few times in his life that he will treat and be treated as an equal by those he comes across.

The royals, in particular three components of their visit:

1. Media - To all media personnel, can you guys stop having a f***ing orgy over this family? I throw up in my mouth every time I hear the word "elegant" and when the media give coverage to some poxy "contest" between Will & Kate.

Start focussing on real news that affects real people such as O'Farrell's resignation, the Sydney airport and Carlton's performance ;).

2. Crowds - Maybe I've just got a small network, but I don't know of anyone who'd go out to visit three Poms with no vested interest in Australia. Is a Rent-a-crowd being hired, or is there a following in Sydney there isn't in Adelaide?

Why do people continue to fawn over a stuck-up family that live in another country and are still our head of state? Most people are oppose knights and dames, so why do we pursue these people like celebrities, let alone allow them to represent us? At least a musician/actor/athlete has some discernible talent and contributes to society through sport or the arts.

They have contributed no more to society than anyone else. I'm sure if you gave a random family a ton of cash and told people to worship them, you could find people far more interesting and positively influential.

Get a life people.

3. Babies - Please God, if you're there, stop all talk of future royal babies. I'll repent, convert, do whatever you want, please, PLEASE stop all future talk of royal babies.

The media and the wank fest over the royals.
On the way home from work tonight they detailed their arrival in Sydney today with a 5 minute report about the intricacies of the trip and how much it means and how uplifting it is for all Australians. Couldn't help but laugh.

What is the point of monarchs in this day and age anyway? How much power do they have?
A pointless tradition, and a shame for all the cool medieval kings and queens who would make important decisions, lead armies and cut people's heads off.

the increasing presence of twitter as a source for reporters. it is now reaching our news services to an extent where reporters/hosts are practically reading tweets. lazy journalism or simply sign of the times?

But they're just like us.*

*This assumes that we're the heir to the throne of Great Britain and Ireland with all the privilege and trappings that come with this particular accdent of birth too.

I want him developed as the starting PG, his man-on-man defence is simply far greater than Isaiah's at this time and his offence has been solid for a rookie with plenty of room to improve.
Thomas can run the 2nd unit almost single handedly when he's on, he's far better suited to being the scoring punch off the bench.

Vito Mannone

Vito who I hear you all ask?

He's the useless spud Sunderland goalkeeper that cost me my EPL fantasy league match with his fumble that allowed Nasri to score a last minute equaliser for Man City this morning. My opponent has Nasri of course.

As if that wasn't enough bad luck I had David Silva who was a late withdrawal and Lukaku who scored no goals in Everton's loss to Crystal Palace.

They were outscored by Nasri by 12 points so even with an 8 point lead I still lost.

So thanks Vito Mannone you **** for ruining my Easter.
