In year 11 I got Gattaca and a few shitty books I can't even remember, year 12 got Look Both Ways (horrible horrible movie), some play and a couple of books I can't remember again. All VCE English did for me was ruin reading books for a few years, having to read a book you have no interest in several times and over analyse the shit out of it was torture. Best was year 9 when we got Blade Runner, only downside was having to put up with the teacher pulling things like "the clear coat is symbolic for the frailty of mankind" type stuff out of her rear. Biggest joke was doing Bend it Like Beckham and having to right essay on that, worse is I've heard Twilight is on the booklist for year 7 at some schools now.
Honestly found VCE English to be a massive waste of time all it was useful for in the end was wrecking my final ENTER score by having to count but being my lowest score. Blitzed the opinion piece but bombed badly on the book / film analysis as well as that mid year test, GET or something, had to write an essay on chocolate or something stupid when I'm allergic to it.
tldr: High school turned me from being an avid reader to hating books until 5 years later.
