Uh oh.

How fast were you going do you think?
About 87 I think, it'll be my first fine so I'll try to get off. The road kept changing from 100 to 80 to 100 to 80 that I lost track while worrying about where I was, I was just going with the flow of traffic so I imagine a few of us were speeding.
Look up from what? Looking at your phone?
No, up from the road. I never use my phone while driving and have no sympathy for people who get caught doing so.

If it is your first fine and you write a letter you will get off 100%

Car speedo's are typically 5-7km/h below what the actual speed is so you may be okay there!

Mmm that would be nice! I reckon at that speed mine is only a few km’s off and with the leeway you get (2-3km?) it might put me only a couple of km’s over. I guess I’ll have to wait and see

We wrote something similar to the effect of this

Dear Officer in Charge,

I am writing in relation to traffic offence xxx committed at [time] on [date].

I accept that at no time is speeding safe. In this case due to [insert brief comment on circumstances, don't give excuses] I drifted over the speed limit for a short period of time. I have now modified my driving behaviour and pay more attention to my speed in such circumstances.

Given my good driving record I would like to request a caution for this infringement.

Regards,
[Your name]
