Yeah but you're making judgments about something you've not watched.
I understand some situations at your school have probably arisen as a result of the show, but at the end of the day it's literally just a show.
I'll probably sit down and binge watch it at some stage. But my perception of it as a 50 year old male with no suicidal thoughts is going to be a lot different than a 15 year old girl with thoughts of suicide.
Coincidentally this email just came through from one of our school's guidance officers.
Hi Everyone,
We have had some information come out regarding the television series
13 Reasons Why. The target audience is teens and deals with some serious issues around suicide, harassment and sexual assault. You may be aware that
13 Reasons Why, Season 2 officially launched on Netflix on Friday May 18 at 5pm.
In light of this seasons release and the themes it confronts, our school has decided to manage our students who may be effected by this television series, in the following way. If you have any students raise this series or make reference to its content, please shut down the conversation. If you notice anyone who is affected or seems troubled please direct them to the Support Team at the
end of the lesson. However, when a student is not coping in class at all please direct them immediately to the Support Team with someone to accompany them so that we know they made it to see someone.
