**** me, the AC/DC coins are sold out already, the Royal Australian Mint site is crashing, and the phone lines are melting!

Hells Bells!!!

I did art through year 12 so I loved any of the creative stuff, sewing was shit though.

I didn't mind art as that was more creative, you had more freedom to do what you wanted rather that just working on the same set projects everyone had to do.

Its a long way to the Mint if you want a special coin

I hated sewing too, even the boys had to do it in Year 8, I also hated woodwork and metalwork, basically any of the manual arts I was hopeless at so I hated it.
Yeah, same at my school in regards to the sewing class. Ended up with basically all the boys being kicked out for throwing sewing needles around.

Or people who are on maternity leave who come back with their little shi.. i mean lovely babies.

Or people who have quit the school and still come back to visit. Like **** off you don't work here anymore.

Or people who were on Maternity leave and weirdly come back and take your job from under you.

I had to do sewing, cooking, metalworks, woodworks and some other bullshit classes I hated.
Sewing = trippy 70s denim man bag
cooking = afternoon high tea
metalwork = round pencil case
woodwork = wooden pencil case or secrets tray
plastics/electronics = random dice generator

Wtf are people doing sewing at high school?

Filling time.

Australian Schooling is 13 years.

2 years could easily be lopt off and you wouldn't miss a thing. People are ready to go at 16 so let them go. Keeping people at school is just cruel. 1 VCE year does it.

And that extra year at Primary School is i believe what statisticians call stat padding. Let it go.

We used these old sewing machines that were awkward as hell to use, they were also dangerous if you got your fingers in the way and sewed them instead.

We did cooking and I hated that as well, we made some muffins that ended up being rock hard so instead of eating them we just threw them at each other.

Last term my class made some cupcakes and decorated them to enter in the local show. We handed them back out at assembly the next week with their prizes but told the kids not to eat them. I am on duty the next break and they're scoffing them down, in spite of my many warnings.

I think we had to do cooking and sewing in year 7 and 8
Maybe it was 6 months of each in each year under the umbrella of home economics?

We did same thing with wood and metalworking, 6 months of each

Yeah we did 6 months of all those things in Year 8 and if you liked them or were good at them you could continue on doing them in later years.

I ended up doing Art and Theatre Arts as you could just piss about in them doing what you wanted and no matter how bad you were you couldn't really fail.

Wood work was shit. Just dust flying everywhere from 30 odd kids not knowing wtf they're doing.

I was the class dunce when it came to woodwork, I got stuck on the first basic project while other guys were going on to make ornate tables and chess sets.

It was more humiliating than failing at sewing and cooking as guys were expected to be bad at that, you were expected to be good at woodwork or metalwork.

One year we built a store room
Our semester built the frames and put them up, other semester built the shelves and stuff

Loved cooking

never did sewing nor did I want to.

Did a couple of subjects of woodwork, did ok but I am certainly not a natural.

I remember one semester in cooking being paired with an autistic kid in my class. Nothing against the kid or anything, it's not his fault, but it was the only semester of cooking I did not enjoy because I spent most of it making sure he wasn't accidentally setting things on fire. He usually had a helper teacher but they never came into these classes for some reason, felt sorry for the poor bloke.

At my school we used to have to take turns in cleaning and drying dishes each class.. I remember he was so slow at washing that if he washed and I dried we would be there through half of the lunch break. Our teacher wouldn't let me wash every week (then I could help him dry when I was done) because "we had to take turns" ffs lol
