My cat likes watching me pee. Yet she demands privacy when she is using her litter tray.

Weirdo
Had all the dogs inside with air con on when it was 40 degrees maybe more baby .
Opened up door so they can go to toilet ...no we not seeing or anything.

Ok I will do a wee on the tree , ok we all do a pee on the tree ..easy .

I find books hard to throw away unless they are really crap

Mostly books. Also pictures and photos.

I’ve filled 3 recycling bins with books from my grandparents house and the rest went into the hard rubbish pile.

Photos are the hardest as no one wants to throw them away but they’re just taking up space in the cupboard.

Have you ever considered that one or two books from your grandfolks house you threw out could may very well be worth a fortune these days (depending on their condition) ???

Doubt they were worth a fortune, only interest was making sure there was no money hidden in them. Very disappointing as they used to hide money in places but never found any 😢

But yes some stuff I got rid of I probably could have sold, but it wasn’t worth the hassle. We had a garage sale once and it paid for dinner that night…

Still bitter my mom threw out all my childhood Masters of the Universe and Voltron toys as a child when I became a teenager. Aside from the fact many of them are worth a mint these days I wanted to keep them all.

Just like a 25 plus year of footy record collections (including vintage copies from the 50s and 60s I purchased) my older brother threw out in order to clear space.

Yeah .

I had He-Men, Transformers, star wars toys . Etc.

Don't know what happened to them.

I know she gave some away .

I've still got the collection of original release Star Wars toys that my parents had bought for my brother as he grew up in that era of the original trilogy, there were then passed down to me - even though the movies were a bit before my time, the action figures were fun to play with, especially when I paired them up with my TMNT toys... And yes I was a complete tomboy

The open figures are in a Star Wars carry case, and I'm pretty sure there's still a few in their packaging a that are hidden somewhere

I was pretty annoyed though when my TMNT toys were given away

And sounds like the vast majority (all) know this feeling

I'm amazed how many people don't know the "Pirate" technique. (I used to call it the "one-eyed monster" trick but that name was ah....misunderstood!)

Before you turn on any lights, close ONE eye firmly. Keep it closed all the way through until you turn out the lights again. Swap eyes and you'll have perfect night vision.

Gough will take any cricket books

I understand your dilemma - we had so many sets of encyclopedias etc

I may have to start looking for museums/collectors who are looking for this stuff for when my mum passes

Maybe try checking ebay and all the new market set ups for worth - or alternatively local history places for some of the stuff

I am hoping I can pass on some generational stuff to someone somewhere so it doesnt end up as landfill

I know with some of the books, especially the older ones that had belonged to my mum's grandmother that there was interest in seeing them make their way to the Qld State Library at some stage - so that's definitely something I would want to follow up on in terms of getting some of those old books to places they'd be appreciated

It's also one of the reasons my mum had left me certain items in her Will come that time, because it's more me being like a caretaker to see that long standing wishes for certain items are met compared with my brother who may have a bit more focus on the $$$

Photos are 100% going to be the hardest thing to deal with - while I've got the odd photo album from my childhood, the majority of my photos from adulthood are digital, so on my computer & hard drives

Not the same for my parents photos though - so many albums that they filled up throughout their lifetimes, their travels etc. But more than just their family & travel albums, dad was a photographer in the Airforce and I'm pretty sure there's a good number of photos from that era in the collection. If there's photos my brother doesn't want, I might look to see where I can donate them whether it's the War Museum, Vietnam Vets Museum as dad was Vietnam Vet

Old people hiding things! 🤦‍♂️ 🤷‍♂️ MIL used to keep cash in a teapot, and in pockets in clothes hanging in the wardrobe, and FIL put important papers under the carpet. Then MIL got dementia, they moved to a country town, and refused to allow us to help them. So goodness knows if or what got donated to op shops 😕.

A few years later FIL regularly hid his wallet and chequebook (in case they got stolen 🙄) and after he passed away we found “lost” chequebooks in unexpected places.

A friend’s mother hid her engagement ring in a jacket and her daughter, not knowing, packed it up to take to the Salvos and by chance checked the pockets before handing it over.

Please don’t hide anything, it’s not worth it.

Wife’s grandmother did that and after she died they found thousands in cash stashed all over the house. God knows how much they didn’t find

My SIL used to clean for a wealthy couple and he was always hiding money and casino chips - they found many thousands when he died as well as 100 chips all over the place - in clothing, on top of wardrobes, under beds, in vases etc

My kids play backyard cricket.

Plonker who moved in next door refuses to throw stray tennis balls back & then sent me a text asking if "I could ask Ricky Ponting to stop hitting balls over the fence".

Un-Australian.
What a knob. We should be encouraging kids that are outside doing things

I've still got many MOTU, Justice League, Transformers, Voltron, TMNT and many other toys. Some of the broken ones have been purged. Not in packaging though so doubt they'd be worth anything....... funnily enough I have kept the packaging as I used to like reading the blurb on the back of them.

Some others (like the Justice League Task Force of America ones) printed the entire range of figures you could buy on the back as well.

I wonder if hiding valuables was a feature of that particular generation or if it’s something old people in general do. It suggests feelings of vulnerability, and trying to preserve their belongings.

My mum, when she was still youngish, used to keep what she called “running-away money” in an envelope in a shoebox. It was money she saved from “housekeeping”, an old-fashioned concept now. She never ran away 🙂 but her generation of women were still struggling for independence and the ability to leave an unhappy marriage. She was adamant that young women should maintain their financial autonomy when they got married.

Cricket balls.. I could understand being pissed off about.

But tennis balls. Are you joking

My grandfather was always going to the closet to get money so assume the same thing in pockets. So we checked every single pocket before donating any clothes.

They had also built some false shelves and had 1000s in one, they got robbed one night and they didn’t find it, but they moved the money after that. I did find an empty tin in that shelf though…

Still think there might be other false shelves around, need a thermal imaging camera 😂😂

Old bastard next door to me did the same thing but about balls hitting his fence. Problem with our backyard was that was the flat section. More balls went over the other fence and she had no problems given her son was playing state cricket as did her grandson.

But that section of yard was no good to bat as fence was lower and uneven ground.

At my old school my workmate owned his own pizza restaurant. He would keep cash, overnight, in the pizza oven.

You can see where this story is going right? 🤦‍♀️

I became the very happy owner of some very blackened two dollar and one dollar coins. I put them in the self serve registers at Coles.
