Nude Olympics make some waves at Maslin Beach

ANCIENT Olympic events may have been run in the nude but they didn't include sack racing, unlike yesterday's event at Maslin Beach.

About 300 people of all shapes and sizes turned up to compete and enjoy a day in the sun and nude.

Yes, but in Adelaide it only came along in 1972.
Did Holden import their workers from interstate prior to 1972? That big old factory on Port Rd would have have been clouded with secrecy. In fact I'm willing to bet that the whole operations of GMH were among the most highly Classified files in Canberra, and any reference to a motor vehicle in SA was censored. Workers, who as mentioned above were imported from interstate, had to go through an extensive security background check before their CV's were even short listed. Yeah I think you're right on there champ!

That or Snowtown - I don't know what is worse...

I don't live in Geelong, just follow the team. From my perspective the only difference between the 2 is Adelaide is hotter and more of the population have mullets

I said in a post several years ago..........

"The difference between Adelaide and Geelong. One is a regional centre masquerading as a city, the other is Geelong".

This is quite true indeed, and I know both intimately. But both are a lot closer to better beaches than Melbourne, so that's good enough for me...

Victoria trying to poach Tour Down Under, Jay Weatherill says

Mr Weatherill said there were indications Victorian authorities were moving to pull the event over the border.
"They are up to something, we've noticed that they've changed the configuration of some of their events," he said.

You despicable Victorians ... :thumbsdown:

You better be careful, an order for new barrels has been done ... :D
Some of those Mexican drug cartels could give you a booster course on corpse disposal.

Maybe a swap of materials & ideas could be the method of payment?

You can visit 118 wineries in a few days, not to mention the dozen+ towns?

Cool, what could be more fun than tasting the same overripe, over oaked shiraz 118 times, followed up by visiting dry, desolate wheat-belt towns full of suicidal farmers and serial killers? All this following a morning spent reading the worst 'journalist' in the country (Rucci) in the worst newspaper in the country over a breakfast of pie floaters and bad coffee. Then you can come back into town for a thrilling night of watching paint dry and grass grow turn brown from a month of 35C+ days. Finally, before bed you brush your teeth using beer because the water is so grotty and fall asleep to the soothing tones of drag racers driving into stobie poles.

BTW the peak tourism body there has just released their 2013 online advertising campaign:

There was a great article in yesterdays Age bagging Adelaide/SA for paying Lance Armstrong to come to the Tour Down Under which achieved it's purpose of massively lifting the events profile, yet strangely not correlating that with the self dubbed "sporting capital" lining of Bernie Ecclestone's own pockets to the tune of $30 million or paying the morally corrupt Tiger Woods appearance money to play at some B grade Golf Tournaments.

With the AFL, Cricket, Tennis, Spring Racing Carnival, League and Soccer vying for the odd crowd or two, our second and third rate events like F1 and Golf just don't get the same response. Sure, our lousy crowds for the Grand Prix are double that of Adelaide, but our measure of popularity is much different... it's wrong to do a one to one comparison with you guys.

Basically we throw these basket cases a spot on the sporting calendar more out of charitable spirit than anything else. We should be applauded for it. It also explains why we gave Port an AFL license

edit: humble pie time, Adelaide's F1 GP had a much higher attendence than Melbourne... lulz at me :)

Yeah was just about to post that basically everything you said in that post is factually incorrect.... but it is the Bay, so I guess that's okay.

Please tell us how Tiger or Edelston broke the rules of their respective chosen sports.
Thanks.

Mmmm let's see.

Royalties -> SA
Job opportunities -> SA
ASX listed Linc Energy shareholders -> Anywhere
Biggeest Australian Coal Seam Gas Operator in Qld - Santos Head Office 60 Flinders St Adelaide SA 5000
Our biggest export earner is only responsible for 2% of jobs in Australia - and if you expect many wont be FIFO, you're dreaming.

Shareholders - most likely be where the population & wealth is - the Eastern seaboard.

Just shaddup and drill my oil, pump-monkey

Dude most mining jobs are FIFO, and most of those workers who do FIFO live in the respective capital city of the state in which the project is based. BHP-Billitons head office is in Melbourne, but do you think that's made a lick of difference to WA's economy? No, it doesn't. The company makes the profits, but the jobs and royalties go to the state. Hopefully this will be something big for SA.
