Just because I refuse to support big pharma bullshit doesn't mean I'm faking anything.

If it was a matter of life and death of course I would take the pills.
Didn't mean it like that, just sounded like you wanted the certificate for a day off.

Depends on what the sickness/infection is if i take the medication, doesn't have to be life or death though.

My doctor gave me script for antibiotics when I was really sick a few weeks ago, then a few days when I went back instructed me not to finish the antibiotics.

I thought that was the no.1 rule, finish antibiotics. o_O

TheFreshBanana can you shed any light on this pls...
Hmmm, I did a bit of research, and it does say to finish your course unless instructed by your doctor

Although, I couldn't find a reason as to why that would be.

But the most logical answer would be, is that there's no more bacteria left in your body. Also, antibiotics tend to work very fast, with a course running for about a week.

Stopping an antibiotic course (even when there are no more symptoms) halfway, can lead to antibiotic resistance. But so can antibiotic misuse, when you take antibiotics and there's no bacterial infection.

In my line of work, no cert days have been cut from 10 to 5. I had gastro in term 1 2/3 days off, so pretty much reached that quota quickly. Getting a bloody horrendous case of the flu a few weeks back, i had to go to the doctors no less than 4 times to get a certificate to cover me.

Why did you have to go four times?

And if the antibiotics are for the flu, then they're pretty useless and actually can be quite harmful.

Well I dunno what I had- aches/pain/headache/sore throat/nose/couldnt eat. One thing I didnt have apparently was a fever.

Um well- went 1st day i was sick she gave me Wed-Fri off, still sick Monday, she gave me Mon-Wed off, Thursday had to go in for a blood test (still feeling quite bad tho) got a cert from pathology, then back to work Friday, back at docs Saturday to get results.

And she wants me to get yet another blood test in a couple of weeks.

When I go to the doctor and they give me some prescription for some random shit I never fill it.

I have 3 prescriptions for 3 different things from my last 3 trips to the doctor.

I swear they think everybody wants some pills to make them feel better.
sometimes when suffering from a bit of wax in ears i go to dr. all i want is for him to flush them out with water. but sometimes he doesnt and gives me script for antibiotics due to minor inflammation. i leave disappointed and throw script in the bin. that will teach him. oh wait, no it wont, he still gets paid
