As the title suggests it is thing that you have learnt for this year. I'll start it rolling:

1. You are always best off trusting two premo rucks
2. If a player has had nil to very limited preseason chances are they won't be in round one
3. Mature age rookies value far outweigh 18yo rooks
4. Never, ever trust a 2nd year premo priced player.

Just from looking at everyone else's teams I've learned that it is impossible to get through this round without copping at least 3-4 terrible scores from your selected premos. So don't beat yourself up over copping a handful of really s**t scores from players you expected to score well, because 90% of other teams are pretty much in the same boat as you.

5. Don't go writing of veteran DT guns who've had very limited pre-seasons. A Goodes & N Roo were quite solid yesterday all things considering.

Things I've learned from Round 1 of DT 2013:
Everyone sucks at Dream Team except me.

Things I will learn in future rounds of DT 2013:
All this douchebaggy gloating about avoiding all the dud picks so far will come back to bite me. Damn you, karma.

6. Stick to you're plan, don't make last minute changes 10 minutes before lockout.

Why oh why didn't I follow this rule!
This is what burned me.

Murphy > Danger two hours before lockout. FFS

what have i learnt...

-going with unique picks makes this game far more enjoyable (for me that is. i am not saying this is the case for anyone else). I have had a few shocking scores (Greene, Watts, Bellchambers, Embley (sub) ) but I am on track I think for a score slightly under par I would say. On 1893 with bartel to play.

- keep calm and lock swan... ( i learnt that long ago but its trendy this year)

Having too many players from one club in your squad is a useless arguement, guns are guns. Oh why didn't I stick with my Swan, Pendles and Sidey midfield!

To trust my gut instincts and select Geary. Select Mundy. Select S. Selwood. Don't think that because no one is picking a player that they are necessarily a bad pick.
