Coach Lyon wants everyone living in the present moment, but...just sayin':

Who, of these dudes, would you want to see in purple? Have you seen any of them play?

Cameron McCarthy and Jonathon Marsh both got my attention, being WA boys, but so did SA's Darcy Hourigan. Looking forward to reading your responses!

Both lads appear to have potential to make it at the next level and both would probably be pretty suited to the Lyon game plan.

McCarthy was rated in the top 20 on afl.com.au

Actually, thinking about it, Hourigan is 190cm. He's currently 2cm shorter than Pav so probably has some growth left in him. He's already 94kg according to this:

The way he plays would suit us I reckon. Bustling, likes the physical stuff, good mark big left foot

Would be delighted if we got either McCarthy or Hourigan, preference with McCarthy tho because he is a Souths boy. I think marsh will slip to a second round but not sure whether he will slip far enough for us

Tell us more about sean hurley

read he's a towering midfielder, somebody mentioned in the 'outside the square rookies' thread that most irish are rebounding defenders and could well end up like johnson . Not having played afl hard to tell if he'll pick up the key-forward role but i'd expect they try him forward and back in peel ressies next yr if we take him. Find out what best suits him but give him 5+ weeks at a time in each position. If gets hang of it swing him through the middle a bit maybe to see if he can dominate regardless of result ih he lays well either forward or back get him in league side as soon as possible. Likely 3/4 way through season and could really give us something handy.

PS - Best bit is don't need to delist a player to snag him and if we really struggle with delisting a 3rd player could just draft 2 plus him (Have to see something though)
Think Pitt and Chrichton will go but hard to come up with another 1. Maybe kepler will hang up the boots though.

I would be happy to use a player such as Michie or Sheriden to upgrade a pick to give us a shot at the best available Tallis. Would not be a popular move but should be considered.

I'm with you, can't expect to give pig shit for strawberry jam.
We will have to offer something decent to get an earlier pick.

how about something like sheridan + 2nd Round to Melbourne/Somebody around there 2nd Round. Effectively giving us something like the possibility of Marsh + Hourigan or Mcarthy + Marsh or even Hourigan + Mcarthy however if we take 2 i do see Marsh being one of them given he can play higher up the ground.

I would be happy with any of Jonathon Marsh, Cameron McCarthy, Mitch Harvey and Darcy Hourigan. Would probably expect us to have the first two on the list for our first round pick, and the next two for our second round pick.

As for the others, Jonothan Freeman is linked to the Brisbane Lions Academy so we'd have to bid on him. I don't mind him, but he is an overaged kid and offers largely what we're getting from Taberner at the moment. I really like Max King, but again he probably doesn't really give us much that Moller isn't already offering. The other main one is Dallas Willsmore, and he'd be a good pick up from the third round onwards. Shorter, but could play as a hit up marking target around the CHF spot. While in the rookie draft, I could see us adding a long term prospect like Sam Garstone who would take time to develop but has shown good signs.

Ideally, for me, we'd pick up one guy around the 195cm mark (McCarthy, Harvey) and then another around 190-192cm (Marsh, Hourigan, Willsmore). Think along with Mayne and our crumbers, that would give us the best of both worlds.

And it just so happens that in the BigFooty draft, I picked both Cam McCarthy and Dallas Willsmore. Plus, a key defender who can also go forward in Daniel McStay.

We need more players with the looks of my man "Sherry". Him and Ibbo are going out tonight ..............................................
