The second time we lost this year, and the third quarter played an important role. It's not called the Premiership quarter for us, it's called the cursed quarter. The thing that made Richmond kick 7 goals to 1 in that quarter was the fact that we had Brown, Cupido and Lynch down back. It's time that we stop messing around with the forward line. When the ball went up to the forward line we had no Lynch and Brown as marking options and no Cupido as a crumber. The Richmond defenders had a fantastic quarter. The Richmond forwards were playing on our forwards. I was shocked to see Pike on the bench in that quarter. He should have been down back instead of a player that has never played down back before at this level. To the last quarter, we played much better. Why? Easy, it's because players were in their right position. We had Brown and Lynch back up forward and Pike and Michael down back.

Go Hoppers!!

I was in the Ponsford Stand. Basically in the third quarter the Richmond midfield got on top. I lost count of the times they cleared it out the centre after the bounce while on most occasions our blokes seemed to get bottled up when we managed to get hand to ball. Losing Leppitsch and Hart also meant that Matthews had to re-adjust his backline. Michael came down to cover Richardson in the third quarter (right in front of where I was sitting) and Lynch was moved to the forward line, where he was rather ineffective, in both the third and last quarters.

The reasons we improved in the last quarter is we actually started to run and make space all around the ground, not because Brown, Lynch and Cupido were in the forward line.

I thought Brown was close to the best for the Brisbane Lions, followed by Voss (good consistent match) and Keating who had an excellent first half, but faded (possibly tired) in the second half.

Pike in the forward line was pretty amazing to see. Like a fish out of water. I really felt for him actually. You could see it was foreign waters for the guy.

Don't mean to harp on about umpires but there were a few CLANGERS that went against the lions that were missed that kickstarted to Richmond goals. SHOCKER!!!

Shame to lose Lepper. I think Voss was best on ground and Brown next up with Cupido trying hard all day with some flashiness too.

The first three goals in three minutes in the third quarter were definately inspiring.

Definately a game they could. And probably SHOULD have won.

Any one know why Daryl White didn't play?

White had a virus.

The reason Cupiod & Co were in the backline was the 1st 1/2 display from the defenders was abysmal to say the least.

I lost count of the times they failed to clear the ball in regulation plays with no pressure to speak of. It was only Richmonds equally inept goal kicking display that allowed the Lions to go into 1/2 time with a small lead.

unforced errors particularly by richmond were shocking..the amount of fumbles between their legs was astounding for a top level side..we really should have made them pay a lot more than we did!

umpires certainly didnt help us thats for sure..
