Agree at the moment with the Divide in Perth. North of the Swan is West Coast, South is Freo.

Mandurah is not the Place . Peel Thunder are a Waste of time. The 9th WAFL team should have been Bunbury based ! But Bunbury cannot supoprt an AFL Team ... You Are dreamin !

I am Still a Fan of the Perth United FC. Home facilities at Leederville. Tradional Home of West Perth. East Perth 'sold' out of PERTH Oval 10 years ago . And Lathlain the Home of Perth, well ..yeah .. its out there !

This must sound confusing for non Sand Gropers, that : West Perth Traditonal Home is Leedevile, in West Perth, bt now that play North at Joondallup. East Perts Tradiotional Home is Perth Oval, but now call Leederville in West Perth Home. And Perth's home is Lathlain - Geographically EAST of Perth ! But there home was once the WACA in the middle of Perth ??

Supporters.... for Perth United. They will come out of the wood work ! West & East Perth ( Not sure about the Demons ?) have a Very Loyal Following still. They will Jump. And You can bet a LOT of Country people who still follow the WAFL will jump on board. Its will be grown from the Roots of the WAFL and the Heart of WA Football, not a Stock Market Venture in the case of the Weagles.

Sorry , one last comment about East Freo being a powerhouse of WAFL and there Standing. Yes, they have won the most WAFL Flags. ( all Be it some were 'stolen from' the Traditional Freo Football club 100 YEars ago and Souths took none !) But that is story from the Freo Archives South Freo Traditionalists like to play out ! East Freo I believe has a Strong contribution to the Dockers and a Lot of the Traditonal South & East Supporters do flow through and follow the Dockers. Hell Dockers even wore the 1970's OLD East Jumper as there heritage Strip a few years ago .. and it Looked Brilliant ! So Wether you believe it or not, South & East Freo are already linked into the AFL.!

Perth United FC - The Royals - 201? !! Love it !! Go Boys.

Bunbury itself couldn't support an AFL team - but the greater south-west, including Peel through to Albany could.

This would be the zone that they could attract.

I don't see it happening in the next 10 years - but if another team was to enter by say 2050 - this is where it should be in IMO.

However the majority of games would still need to be played at Subi

The issue of what representation for a third WA team is difficult .
Joondalup has the largest catchment now and in the future and is a "city" but is really Just NOR territory .
Peel is a distinct region , close to Perth and just because the WAFL team struggles doesn't mean an AFL team would struggle but it probably would .
Bunbury is a good football choice but it would be hard to get the numbers to travel to Perth .I would suggest a SW team that could rotate it's home games between Bunbury , Albany and Perth .
Kalgoorlie or Geraldton would be excellent choices if the towns were big enough to draw the crowds consistant with supporting an AFL team .
Maybe a "country" side rather than a SW side ?

They would still have to be physically based somewhere - it would take a lot of effort and weekly travel on the part of e.g. a Bunbury-based side to generate and maintain suitable support in Kalgoorlie or Geraldton. And without support in other bigger regional centres I reckon you'd be struggling to get critical mass to make the team viable.

Not really a broblem .

All interstate clubs travel fortnighly .
Yes , a country club would have additional home travel .

Where teams train has almost zero impact on overall support .
Also you would have structures in place to minimise travelling and maximising exposure at the individual towns .In effect you are trying to concentrate the the crowds at individual towns .IMO country people could cope with the idea of team representing the country rather than the individual towns .
