This is the best footy we have seen in over a decade

Just putting this out there, but the last quarter of this season has been the best football i have seen in over 10 years.

Football was dying in congestion and the complete inability to move the ball freely from deep in defence, plus significant over officiating in the middle of this year.

For all the critique they cop, the AFL have really improved these issues via:

• 6,6,6
• the stand rule
• kick in rule

Then the main one that has worked superbly is not paying free kicks for ducking and diving, it's seen the best umpiring in a long time. Who would have thought players would stop acting if they weren't rewarded for it?

The crowds and tv ratings have gone up in the last quarter of the year and the disgruntled supporters have gone down significantly.

Now let's just hope they don't stuff with anything next year as it has been super enjoyable, even for a disgruntled bombers fan.

It was better in the 80s and 90s - more exciting play, more characters in the game, less woke virtuous crap. I miss the good old days

Still highly over-officiated which really impacts the watchability.
There were plays last night where it was free kick, down the line, another free kick.
Sometimes to mix things up the umpire's would give a 50m penalty.
