Dear Mr. Hopkins

We acknowledge reciept of your email 12 May, 2000 concerning the idea of playing an AFL match during the Olympic Games to help promote our code.

More than twelve months ago, we reached agreement in principle for such a match with SOCOG. The game was being tentatively scheduled for 9 September, 2000 at the SCG, about a week before the opening ceremony for the Sydney Olympics.

Unfortunately, the route of the Olympic road cycling event was changed and the SCG will now be used as a major staging point for that particular event and as a result, was not available for an AFL match on 9 September, 2000.

There is also no other venue in Sydney capable of hosting such a game at that time.

We were obviously disappointed with not being able to stage an exhibition game in Sydney linked to the Olympic Games but the final outcome was beyond our control.

Many thanks for taking the time to write to us and I have taken this opportunity to enclose a copy of our 1999 Annual Report which hopefully explains in some detail our policies and key strategies.

Kind Regards,

Tony Peek

Grave Danger I dont think your in touch with reality

At least I follow one team in the AFL and one team in the AFL.

There are plenty of people who love the Magpies and love the Crows. ITS A THING CALLED LOYALTY!!!

and as I have said before the Power and the Magpies are seperate clubs..

When I went to Showdown 2 I couldn't belive the number of supporters who had power & crows scarfes on !! It was a port home game and the crowd seemed slightly more in favour of the crows but when we hit the front an almighty roar that came from nowhere like I had never seen before...To this day I rekon the one's that were following the power and crows just turned to support the crows??

now they are the ones who should be questioned !!

I follow 2 teams in seperate competitions not in the same one !

I meant one team in the SANFL and one in the AFL

just before you read this and try and make a fool out of me!

simple typing error like a lot of other ones I can spell and use grammer etc....

Hey Chev1977, what do you say to those port power supporters who wear power scarves, jumpers, beanies etc to port magpies games?? I am a Norwood and Crows supporter and it really pisses me off!!

Yeah good point

I am one of the rare educated Port fans and I am not the typical port fan who is a "know all know f..k all" like most of my fellow port fans

Yeah the point is wear black and white to a port magpies game because teal is the colour of the SEPERATE club in Port Power !!

I am going to generate a heated discussion with a new topic about this !

Loyalty won me over with the crows !

See My reply two seperate clubs , you will note "The REAL" Port Adelaide as you put it is now an AFL club, sorry ! the info supplied will show you why, once again sorry to shatter your illusions about the PORT MAGPIES FOOTBALL CLUB, as against the PORT ADELAIDE FOOTBALL CLUB Est.1870

Port Power is not a club it is the new nick name for the former magpies,
The Port Adelaide football club Est 1870.
Formerly, the Cockle divers, the Mudholians, the Magpies, the Portonians, the Seasiders, Now Port Power, Transferred leagues.late 1995.
