Well said mate - saw it in the game day thread. This is my first and last thread for a while, some might say thank christ but it's spot on.

So many players that have shit for brains, can't perform under pressure, lack of awareness, lack of 1%ers. Have a look at the performances of similar tier players at the higher level clubs, you don't just need speed and a good kick on you in this game anymore, you need smart thinkers and players than can make quick and effective decisions.

If u think this is hard to watch. Wait til Boomer is gone.

There isnt the required talent on this list to contend.

I enjoy the wins when they come as much as anyone, but I just don't think we have the cattle.

Was replying to the same post in GDT and thought someone might create a separate thread...my two Bob..

Think there needs to be some list assessment at the end of the year to find out how much quality/good picks we'd need to give up to cover the shortfalls.

With a healthy list we'd be travelling better than we are but when our depth is exposed and tested we're a fair way off being a genuine top 4 side.

Cunnington cant be the only bloke taking his game up a notch.. Too many guys have stagnated and its killing us.

Ironic thing is we've beefed up the off field department more than ever and think we have more worries than last year.

Jack has transformed into a very dumb footballer.

He had more football brains in his first season. Nobody has given him a kick up the arse because Brad "Kudos!" Scott has a mancrush on him.

We are so far from a great team it is not funny, sure a really good team will have a bad day occasionally but not often.
Five insipid losses is hard to take, real hard. It's ok to lose, it happens, but to lose without effort is a no no and it has happened 5 bloody times this year.
We're miles off.

Wrong, he has had to reprogram the way he plays........I personally prefer he plays his natural one (game) and risk losing him once or twice a season via the MRP.

It is what it is.....he isn't playing the way he naturally does its evident.

His clearance work is shockingly overrated. You'd rather a ball up than one of his rubbish hacks forward that end up with the opposition 75% of the time

Ziebell sees ball gets ball and butchers ball with a quick hack and slash kick in close. He has always done this. He's just winning less of the ball hence he not having the opportunity to hack and slash as often, but that's all he'd do.

STOP MAKING EXCUSES FOR HIM!

It has nothing to do with his attack on the footy.

This is his game now: See ball, grab ball, throw ball on boot without ******* looking. And only get the ball 4 times in a half of footy. ******* unacceptable.

He is a very poor man's Matty Boyd at the moment. When he should be our Dangerfield.

It makes me lol, hard, that we're only one win against GWS away from this whole board lighting up, loving the club, leaning back in the easy chair and being so very happy with where we're headed.

We're an average club, same as we've ever been for the last ten or so years. Just a different brand of average club.

Instead of being 'scrubber average', we are now 'faux elite average'. We'll notch up our ten or eleven wins with beautiful footy, and then lose the rest cos we don't give a rats, instead of the ol' days when we worked our backsides off 90% of the time and got drubbed by pure quality here and there. Anything changed?

been saying it for years,

needs to go back to the VFL for a month and learn how to play on the outside. Its the only way we will get the best out of him.

Chances are Ziebell is being instructed to "hack the ball forward", there's an obvious advantage to it. Only problem is the forwards can't get it to ground, even creating a stoppage would be a huge win and would make the "hack" an effective clearance.

Doing it deep in your defensive 50 is not an instruction.

It's idiocy.

Those two goals he kicked in his first pre season match against Carlton are smarter than anything he's done this year.

Pretty much this. We constantly re-define average every few years or so. The ladder won't reflect any differently either, will always be plodding away mid table wasting year after year without being a contender nor getting the draft picks to contend in future years.

Yeah that's where he is struggling. He gets the ball on the boot too quickly, just hacking it away. He has to take a leaf out of Ben10's book and dare to be creative. If he gets caught with the ball, we will have to wear that. But to see a 30 metre hack kick go straight to the opposition and then sail straight back over his head with interest is killing us.
