A team with Ryan Gardner and Alex Keath as the sole key defenders is a bottom 3 side.

I am going out on a limb here and saying the Bev is tanking already - players aren't fit enough after the lay off and he doesn't see the point in risking them this early. I reckon he will debut plenty of kids in the first few weeks and see who can cut it as we will have some big list decisions at the end of the year. Expecting Mclean to be gone and plenty of others. I get the feeling he is treating this as the nothing season it is

If Gardner can perform okay, I think we can do well. I like the pace and the added grunt from the interchange.

Sometimes selections appear odd but pay off. Gardner played horribly in his second game last year and round one this year, but he was solid in his debut and quite good in a preseason game. I guess Bevo sees a lot more of him than we do and obviously thinks he can do what he needs. We’ll see, but it’s not as though the coaching staff didn’t watch round one.

Great looking team. Nice pace with the additions of Jong, Laith and Richards. We'll beat the Saints comfortably and Gardner will make a lot of people on this board look silly.
