ant55,

Seeing you go to training and know all the ins and outs do you think Neagle can play a full AFL game at the moment?

Who is fitter at the moment Neagle of Johns?

Yes i do think Neagle could play a full AFL game now. He is fit and ready to play if there is a place for him in the side.

As far as comparisons with who is fitter out of Neagle and Johns i dont agree with hulld. They are pretty much as on a par when you look at them. They both had interuptions during pre season but have stayed in pretty good shape. I would have absolute confidence that Neagle would give you more as a forward than Johns would.
If i had to pick a third tall forward from Neagle , Johns and Gumby (if he was fit) i would go with Neagle at the moment. Neagle is a smart forward who knows where to lead. Johns leads into trafic too much ans still struggles for second efforts. I suspect that Johns will be playing defence if he is in the side. He played there agains WC and he has been working in the defensive set ups in the training i have seen recently.

johns by a mile. one thing CJ has got going for him is that he is quite trim at the moment

I think you had best look again. Both of them are pretty trim and fit ;)

I would pick CJ over Neagle at the moment, given Lloyd and Lucas will likely be playing. CJ looks a little more agile and has had a bit of time back as well as forward, so is more flexible. It also looks like he shades Neagle in the endurance stakes, but that might but be an incorrect impression.

I don't know how likely either is to get a run with Lloyd, Lucas, Mal and Fletch in the team, but I wouldn't be that surprised to see CJ in the extended squad names for Monday.

He was stuffed after a quarter and a half in a NAB cup game 2 weeks ago and now he's ready..... c'mon ant.

He probably needs about 3 full games at VFL to play off the bench at AFL level.

6-12 games at VFL level so he can run out an AFL match properly.

Yep lets use the Nab Cup game where Knights rotated Lucas , Johns, Hooker and Neagle on and off all match to make a judgment on how fit he was  With a bench of 8 you will find a lot of players where rotated on and of and it was not about fitness levels. It was about giving game time to everyone during the pre season.
Seriously you have NFI.

Johns is done as a forward so he is not flexible at all. He can't jump off the ground in a marking contest. He leads into trafic and he makes no second leads at all. Will never make it as a forward. He spends half the game where the footy isnt becasue he simply doesnt time his leads or read the game well enough. The only chance for him will be as a defender. I hope he can do something as a defender as i would much rather see Fletcher playing as a rebounding half back now days rather than having to pick up the oppositon key forawrds.

The fact that you can's see Neagle was spent after a few efforts against the Saints makes me seriously question your ability as any sort of judge.

Go back watch the game, analyze Neagle, listen to the special comments, have a look at his fumbles after he was spent and then get back to me.

Maybe you should spend less time watching training and more time watching players in games.

Yes he was puffing and looked spent after a few continual efforts. Then he recovered. If you knew anything about the game you would know that any player after continual 1st, 2nd and 3rd efforts looks stuffed. That's because the game is hard. Next time you're watching take the time to look at players getting up from the bottom of the packs, they normally look stuffed, then they recover. It's a hard game you fool. Robert Harvey has looked stuffed through 18 years and 2 Brownlows.
Listen to the special comments??? Do you gauge all your football opinions from the special comments or do you watch the game and form an opinion of your own? You've already mentioned Nathan Buckleys comments in this thread, obviously with you whatever the commentators say is gospel. I guess you also always agree with self confessed Essendon haters Robert Walls and David Schwarz. Watch the games live sometime, maybe even run around in a suburban league, you might learn something about the game that you didn't learn off the tv.

You're a class A peanut.

Run around in a suburban league.. hahaha, I've achieved a lot more sporting wise but nice of you to try and paint a picture of who I am. :thumbsu:

I'm not sure you realise but Neagle missed most of the pre-season so I'm not sure how he could be magically fit.

Carry on.

Well done, I'm guessing you're Brooke Hanson. Congrats on the swimming career but you have no idea about football.
Have you looked at the shirtless photo of Jay? Doesn't look fat and looks quite fit. You keep avoiding the photographic evidence, but if Bucks says he looked stuffed, well it must be right parrot.

Opps.

Re: Neagle injured

1) 2) Age is the only factor when it comes to physical development.
5) He's not injured. He'll play this week.

Come off it Longster, you're not that naive. The nutritionists would be pissi..ng themselves. A kid with a daily menu of hamburgers diet pepsi and cornettos wont develop physically the way he should or could. I'll put it down it to an aberration on your part.

Seniors or the two's ?

Are you seriously brain dead?

A risk factor is something that increases your chance of getting a disease or condition. It's not the be all and end all and that list was not weighted, pardon the pun ;).

Going on your theory it's ok to smoke given that people can develop cancer without smoking.

FFS man!

That list of risk factors wasn't made with professional footballers in mind. Jay is certainly not overweight in terms of everyday people, as that list is referring to. You're an idiot if you can't realise that.

You really are a dead set tool arn't you. Have seen the game a few times atcually . I was there live as well sitting above the bench and saw him each time he came off the ground. He was no different to most of the others who came to the bench for a spell.
Now on top of that the game was three weeks ago. What do you think he has been sitting on the couch playing X Box for the last three weeks
You know what , i would wan't you to question what sort of judge i am becasue you don't have a clue and i wouldn't for a minute want to be thinking along the same lines that you your brain works on footy matters

1) You don't lose 8kg's on that sort of diet. Not when you're putting on muscle bulk as well.

2) I actually don't think he'll play at all.

3) How funny is it when Ant gets fired up...

I would have never questioned you before but after this thread it makes me wonder.

I'm not sure I can ever take your posts seriously again.

Here's the Bomber spotting thread were others questioned his fitness after that game:

Yes, it was 3 weeks ago but he's yet to play a full game after that. He's coming form a very low base! You can do all the training you like but you need serious match fitness to compete well at the highest level.

You are struggling.

If only Ant robus and Kel could settle their little skirmish on the footy field.

He has put together a far more cogent and coherent argument, backed up with objective evidence than you have, so I can't understand how you can think he is struggling...

Wow a few other opinions from those who saw the game on TV.
Im not struggling at all. I doubt he will get picked for round one but it wont be becasue he is not fit enough.
If you want to make your opinion based on limited facts then go right ahead.

surely with gumby's absence if he was available for selection and 100% fit he would have been a good chance to play this week ant. i understand he copped a knock last week but i don't think he would have been too far from getting a gig if it wasn't for his lack of match practice

I have only just got home from training so i dont know if a squad has been named or not but if Neagle gets picked then it wont be a real shock. I just thought they may go in with Lloyd , Lucas and a ruclman up forward. With McPhee and NLM up at half forward for the other marking options.
Of course Neagle may well be in the side.
