Until he does it in a tight game in which his team is under the hammer he is a below average finals performer at best.

But hey congrats on defaulting the Coleman with 10 goals against Carlton after Kennedy missed 6 weeks and then kicking a measly 4 goals in a noncompetitive finals win.

His finals standard is last years grand final.

lmao.

Was tight at quarter time and he blew the game apart with 3 goals in the first 5 minutes of the second then put the cue in the rack.

Lol he's kicked two game winners in finals (luke ball stole one with seconds left because of our dead midfield and Poppy getting robbed of a free), but okay. Kicked 4 in a a brave GF performance when we were thumping them, kicked 8 on the 3rd place Bulldogs who were amazing that year and had two good key defenders, I could go on you know?

To say he's the benefit of a good Hawthorn/Sydney side is absolute bitterness, I don't remember Tippett winning a Coleman, as far as I know Roughead or Gunston didn't kick a century. Pure bias, how good was Carey at Adelaide though? Amazing.

He's done it numerous times, but it's OK if you've missed it. I'm sure he'll have another game-changing turn in a final soon enough.

Now has 9 finals games of a "measly" 4+ goals to his credit in his career, and 69 goals in 22 finals matches overall (matching his own Coleman-winning tally from 22 H&A games this year).

As much as some people will him to fail at every turn, there's no "drop off" or "below his best" with Buddy when it comes to finals. He is a champion and a legend of the game, end of story.

Buddy kicked a century and won a premiership against the 'greatest team of all time'. Been there, done that. Don't act as if North was 100% Carey it just ain't true, he was a forward that never won a Coleman, so I'm amazed he won 2 flags on his own.
You clearly don't understand the difference between a full forward and a centre half forward.

Yeah Buddy never goes into the midfield or anything, definitely just hangs around deep in the goal square. I just don't understand the intricacies of the game, I'm so stupid. Because Carey was a centre half forward he couldn't kick nearly as many goals, but he did get a whopping .8 more disposals. But he was a gorgeous kick so ... oh Buddy is a gorgeous kick too. And a better tackler. Hmm. Arbitrary labels like Centre Half Forward means always better than Full Forward, got it though.

As long as you're a better contested mark and get .8 more disposals, everything else in football doesn't matter as long as your nickname is 'the king'.

Carey dragged an ok north Melbourne side to 2 flags.
Ah, the old "Carey and a bunch of battlers" myth.

Go watch the 2012 GF. Was best on, pretty single handedly kept us in it. Was a monumental performance.

I remember my heartrate increasing every time Buddy went near the ball that game. Every time he got near it I feared he was about to kick a goal.

I look forward to bumping this thread after Sydney lose to Adelaide and Franklin kicks 2.4
Good story mate. Talk about a sook. I look forward to your bump if it happens. If Sydney get through next week and play adelaide in Adelaide it will be a great game.

They will be in a prelim. Still playing deeper and not finals than the Bombers.

Did nothing against an average defender who could have blown up if he ran him around a bit

People around me in the pocket were going nuts at buddy. The team he decided to go to within days won funny that. Always be questions

The Swans did not know that though. In the 2012 Grand Final none of the Swans players or staff members had any idea that Buddy was planning on opening negotiations with the Swans. Had we known I doubt Tippett would have been a big target for the 2013 season.
