Getting away from the media that's why Markson is his manager
I can understand the thought process behind the decision.

Markson can be a shameless shill and an opportunist, but perhaps he also understands how to manage the media and the message, and knows when to put Buddy out there and when to close ranks, better than a footy person would. I feel like the controversies and situations Buddy has had while in Sydney (the car accident, the seizure, the mental health issues and crisis of confidence) would have blown up a lot more and become more destructive ongoing sagas, in both the fishbowl of Melbourne and with someone like a Liam Pickering (just to give an example) managing his affairs.

Marks on would probably be able to better separate the person from the footy player too, and also have a lot more contacts and experience in managing life away from and after footy for Buddy as well.

People do realise he got injured last week, yeah?
And?

Him playing meant he was healthy enough to play, either he plays through an injury and doesn't use it as an excuse or sits out when he knows he can't compete.

Yep, there's an old saying in footy that once you cross the line, you are deemed to be 100% fit. If it backfires, then bad luck.

first of all, he may well have. He's had some great finals for Hawthorn (not that anyone's going out of their way to say that)

It seems every year the pundits say this, and by definition these pundits are admitting the Sydney Buddy hasn't so far, for one reason or another

Will it change?
Better luck next week. I'm sure Jessinta finds he stands up when required

Really sad to see old Franklin out there tonight. How bad was that corked thigh?
I was really looking forward to him having a stunning game tonight. Fizzled out.
