Any word on if the club is looking at Jay van Berlo?

Was watching one of the SANFL finals and in the WA preliminary final he was named 3rd best, so he maybe someone to look at for a rookie spot.

204 cms to be exact.

IMo he'd be more likely to be a rookie selection as he'll be a 3 year project to get his body up to AFL standard.

I wouldn't be surprised to see either of the 2 Adelaide based clubs rookie him.

What's his name? You know how he's been playing? What possy? Body build etc?

thanks

His name is Christian Bock and here's what I had to say elsewhere about him.

We've all heard of Jack and the beanstalk; well, this ain't Jack. :)

He's a dead-set gangly beanstalk of very tall proportions - 204 cms - and thank god he didn't turn sideways or we would have lost him.

He's Bocky's brother but Bocky's thighs would be thicker than Bro's body.

I have no idea whether he's any good or not but he would have to be a 3 year project player to get his body anywhere near AFL standard.

Jarrad Redden on the other hand would come to hand much much quicker as there's a lot more of him although he's not quite as tall.

They showed a glimpse of Sharples and gave him a mention but no details of how he had performed.

We originally rookie listed Nathan for the 2002 season and then upgraded him at the end of that season. But from memory that first wizard cup (or whatever it was called back then) game in 2002 wasn’t he like a stick figure as well. He was lean and wiry. His brother can fill out as well.

There was some interesting results from the SA state screening sessions held on 11 October.

Agility
1 - Peter Rolfe, South, 8.22sec
2 - Charlie Sharples, Sturt, 8.25sec
3 - Scott Blessing, West Adelaide, 8.36sec

Vertical Jump
1 - Tyler Bricacombe, Sturt, 77cm
2 - Alex Kinal, Sturt, 75cm
3 - Peter Rolfe, South Adelaide, 74cm

20m Sprint
1 - Glen Dawson, Eagles, 2.75sec
2 - Peter Rolfe, South, 2.94sec
2 - Tyler Bricacombe, Sturt, 2.94sec

Beep test
1 - Alex Stopp, Norwood 14.10
2 - Jack Redden, Glenelg, 14.1
3 - Cameron Hitchcock, Glenelg 13.7
Some bloody impressive results there.
Dawson's 20m is lightning fast. Stopp and Redden both do well in the beep test for big men. Brimacombe looks like some kind of athlete - 1 cm off Nick Nat's vertical leap, and a 2.94 in the 20m sprint. Rolfe top 3 in 3 categories is impressive too.

Rolfe is a pretty good player from the NT. I was surprised that he didn't get drafted last year. Very clean below his knees, and as you can tell from those results, he has a bit of toe.

Will be doing cartwheels if we pick him up.

Having said that, he'll be spewing

I didn't know Bock had a brother. It would be interesting to see him get rookie drafted and chucked on the protein shakes for a while. Hopefully talent runs in the family!

I think he might have another younger brother as well. Don't know if he plays football though.

Swift looks the go pace and smarts, he would be worth the risk. We need to have faith in the talls we have on our list and just start playing them asap to give them the time to develop and Swift would along with Dangerfield would hopefully give us guys who could break the lines.

no!
i watched that game and he won all the taps. Maybe lost a few but bock took honours that game and played very good imo.
Bock is about 85kg so 3 years of putting weight on him would get him to about 105kg and he will be 21 becuase only 18. yeh abit like griff and hugh minson maybe not as skinny. i reckon crows should get him be patient with him because ruckmen do take a while to develop. ohh and his brother nathan only had a breakout year this year at age 25 soo did take him along time to reach his best potential. so yeh get him in the draft our rookie when ever availible. could be better then his brother you new ever know!

Whether we put Bock on our list depends on whether he is better than whoever else is available - the fact that his surname is Bock should play a very very minimal role in that assessment.

No I watched the game, and in the 5-10 minutes Brimacombe rucked each quarter he bitchslapped him. Brimacombe was also named BOG for Sturt whereas Bock was not in the best players ;)

FWIW, I wouldn't pick up Bock and will be surprised if the Crows do.
