Having a look at some previous players charged with reckless contact and they are significantly more severe then Daisy's bump. It will be negligent.

Severity of the bump is irrelevant to how it is assessed in terms of reckless/negligent

The tribunal booklet makes specific examples.

To escape with negligent there would have to be have been some situation where daisy tried to pull up - that didn't happen - the ball had gone and he left the ground and continued with the bump.

By the tribunal's own booklet - it has to be reckless.

However - as i stated earlier - the level of force was minor and IMO not reportable, Guerra copped Davis high earlier in the year and wasn't done - so I think Daisy will get off - but it can't be negligent IMO

there is definitely high contact. one angle clearly shows the impact initially to the chest and sliding up to the head. the chest clearly bears the full brunt of it but that doesn't matter - the fact that there is head high contact means he is gone. he can just thank his lucky stars that ibbotson got straight back up pretty much. if he had gone off concussed dasiy's season would be over

also, is there evidence of his shoulder hitting him? could have made contact only with his forearm. Because his shoulder is in proximity with his head, doesnt mean he made contact with his head. proximity does not mean contact.

i've watched it over and over, i reckon he's safe. is there other footage?

And therein lies the bullshit of the system

You can lay a bloke out and make minor contact to the head and go

A good bump which knocks the stuffing out of a bloke and perhaps winds him, that also has minor hight contact is a suspendable event is bollocks IMO

The rules were brought in to stop the Lower incident - i think we all agree after seeing Pickett clean up Begley a few years back - that it;s bloody dangerous - and deserves major weeks.

But what daisy did should have just been a downfield 50m.

Even more stupidly - had daisy raised his elbow and collected Ibbotson - he would be assessed as striking - which would have resulted in a lower penalty - now that's a joke

One thing out of this, lets say DT gets 2 weeks, is he will have a 30% loading on any future suspensions for next few years, this is gonna cost him big time if he transgresses again.

Having played 121 games with a good record, now twice in 9 games not smart.

I've looked at the incident many times.

Leaving the ground is quite damning and I doubt he can get off all together.

Negligent contact/high contact/low impact =125 points

125 +10% loading = 147.5 + 68.75 carry over = 216.25

216.25 - 25% for early plea = 162 points.

1 week suspension and another 62 carry points.

Also contact at a medium level, usually incorporates the hit player, to leave the ground immediately. Didn't happen in this case. He got straight up almost immediately, shock his head and continued playing without leaving the field. Doctors report will clear the way to low impact.

He'll miss round 24. That's all.
I think this might be close to the outcome

As others have said once a player leaves the ground and hits the head region of another player he is in trouble.

The other damning thing is that Daisy clearly had the option of tackling, the MRP have stated many times if a player disregards that option then the onus is clearly on him to ensure it is a bump is legal.

How could he be so stupid! Only people like Rocca, Jason Cloke and Phil Carman do stupid things around finals' time that get them suspended. Really disappointing stuff from Daisy who has clouded an otherwise bright season with two undisciplined acts.

These are the 3 scenarios...

1 - Reckless/low impact = 2 weeks with early plea
2 - Negligent/low impact = 1 week with early plea
3 - Contact to the head wasn't forceful enough to be a reportable offence

I'm guessing they will go with Negligent.

I agree Jonesy.

I reckon either 2 or 3.

Thomas plays the game fairly, he's no Baker, and the AFL go softer whence the finals come around, stupid act, but a few years ago it wouldn't have been looked at, so in the spirit of the game it would be a disgrace that such a player like Thomas could miss a final because of that incident.

betweeen one week or thrown out. Talk of missing more than two is laughable... Completely laughable.

That was just stupid by Dale, why would you even do that before finals. He deserves 3 weeks but he will probs get 1-2, 2 is the most likley.

lol Triple M are suggesting 4.

Honestly, I must be the only one to think that it wasn't that bad at all. (irrespective of my username).

If that is 4, Lower would be seeing 10.

Because they couldn't give a stuff about Freo, we are more important at this point.

Dumb act by Daisy, absolutely moronic.

The fact that players can get suspended for this type of bump is a joke.

Doesn't take away the fact he could've broken Daisys neck:thumbsdown::thumbsdown:

I remember when Benny Johnson done a similar bump on Bell from Melbourne. Everyone was carrying on about that incident.IMO Lowers was exactly the same as Johnnos bump. But because he isn't a Pies players and that wouldn't sell papers they don't bother talking about it:thumbsdown:

ABC saying the penalty will depend on if they can prove he made contact with the head.

Whateley saying you can reasonably extrapolate that he did make contact even though you can't tell. I think he just wants to use the word "extrapolate"

Maclure just being a grumpy knob as per, saying he definently made contact with the head.
