ABC saying the penalty will depend on if they can prove he made contact with the head.

Whateley saying you can reasonably extrapolate that he did make contact even though you can't tell. I think he just wants to use the word "extrapolate"

Maclure just being a grumpy knob as per, saying he definently made contact with the head.

No surprises there:rolleyes:

I hate how incidents get trialed by so called media experts before it has even been looked at by the MRP.

David King is worse, he's trying to make out that it's another reason that will destabilise the Pies so he can sit there with his theories and say "see I was right"

West Coast fans will be watching this with interest.

He left the ground and bumped front on. I guess not alot in it (force wise) but will probably cop 2. If it is deemed one week, his 60(ish?) carryover points will make it 2 weeks. If its deemed two weeks, heres hoping for you guys the carryovers dont make it 3! If that happens, next week (game one), 1st final v West Coast (game two), prelim v whoever (week three). First game eligible for is the grand final. Not good.

I think at this time of season though, the AFL will make sure its not more than two.

Beau Waters one was way different to Daisy's one, he had eyes on ball and got slightly late. Thomas one was much different to that, he jumped off the ground and was looking at the man. The only thing keeping me optimisic about this is the MRP and their inconsitency this year. Fingers crossed for 1 week or less. It will be a long wait till 5pm Monday.

it just ocurred to me, if thomas is quilty, why did he keep up with the physical stuff, he bumped someone else a little later. If he knew he was guilty, knowing finals are around the corner, he would have maybe suffered emotionally. Maybe he didnt make contact to his head. again, if anyone has footage of him hitting ibbotson's head, be glad to see it. If its the single shot of Thomas' back in view of the camera, they should throw it out cause its inconclusive. An umpire had a perfect view of it, why didnt he report him?

he didnt raise his elbow, his forearm hit him in the chest and the guy fell, how do we know if his tucked arm made contact to his head. unless there is any footage of it, case closed.

he jumped, so did david lee roth, does that mean he hit him in the head.

they are after us. they hate us. now they want to distort reality. side by side.

They showed a view from side on (perhaps a little forward of side on towards the direction Thomas was running), and it looked a little worse in possibly hitting him head high. Only saw that angle the once though, might try and find it again.

for some reason they keep showing the front on shot. but there is definitely a side on angle as you describe that clearly shows contact to the chest and then slipping up to the head. there is only minimal contact to the head but it is still contact. can't see how he gets off completely

Yep, why even attempt it?

Even Leigh Brown pulled out once tonight in a situation where he could have laid a significant hit, but you could see he was thinking "2 weeks till finals, I better not do it".

Just silly from Thomas, hopefully replays show there was no head contact, because from what 7 have shown us so far it's not exactly conclusive evidence of head high contact.

Agreed. Browny could have all but killed him. So happy when I saw him pull out of that.

0 weeks (would be good) - not possible
1 week (would be a blessing in disguise) -with a guilty plea and a good hearing
2 weeks (misses west coast match, screws with his fitness and form but if we win maybe not the worst result) - most probable result
3 weeks (this is bad!!!) - would be bloody harsh
any more - there will be riots, London style :D.

Seriously, if he gets anymore than one for that I will never watch the game again until the entire afl commission are sacked.

Should get off, nothing in it.

if it's incidental contact to the head and insufficient force to the head surely the whole premise is just body contact. I guarantee they're working on this already.

If it comes out as the 2 weeks and a guilty plea can't reduce we're off to the tribunal to argue down the grading

It looked something that either deserved a week or nothing at all.

Had he not got straight back up, would have looked worse. and maybe higher penalty.

I'm still struggling to get my head around the stupidity of it.

But then the hit/ tap on Jones earlier was equally as stupid.

Not sure what the go with his hand is but that looked very sore, maybe missing Geelong and/or WCE aswell, won't be the end of the world.

And a question...is he back to running at full pace yet after his corky?

We just want him back fit and well for the PF.

Swooop it seems to me that Freo really came out hard and i reckon Daisy "caught some English mustard up his nose" - thought he'd "clear some space", and show the Dockers we wouldn't be pushed around! Players dont tend to think too well once fired up!

Unfortunately he may cost himself a Qualifying final, although that scenario would seem way way OTT.

To me the hits that Daisy/Johncock (Cam Mooney) received were (potentially) far more scary(especially Daisy's) and worthy of significantly larger penalties. Although I must add that in Mooney's case he appeared to try and minimise the force of impact.

London style riots....I like it! :thumbsu:

anyone remember what the assessment was with BJ against Port, other than getting off the ground it seems similar. BJ got a week but I can't remember the points

125 points. Negligent contact /low impact/high contact

Johnno appeared to turn around somewhat on contact.

If no camera angle can show clear high contact, the MRP can still charge him with body contact/negligent or reckless/low impact. Still 125 points and a 1 game ban.

that's how I think the MRP will see Thomas because BJ ran passed the ball to bump the Port player. So if that's negligent so is Daisy's
