Sorry guys but he is G.A.W.N. for two weeks at least.

Off the ground, contact to the head. Depends if they rely on the doctors report after the game to determine the contact reckless or negligent.

Won't be back til the Preliminary Final minimum.

Stupid stupid stupid.

yep got it in a nutshell. we won't be seeing daisy again until prelim night. stupid thing to do. he is very lucky ibbotson wasn't more seriously hurt, if he was then daisy's season would be over

Hoping for 1 week, expecting 2 & if its 3 I will burn the tribunal down and each panel members house.

A one week break would be handy for him to freshen up, but two may mean he hasn't played for 3 weeks coming into a prelim - not ideal. Saves some selection headaches for the first final I guess.

Sorry - that is just stupid comment, based on O facts.

His comment is correct. From the AFL web site "The MRP decided that, "the contact made by Waters was not a bumping action and the high contact was accidental". Sounds like your comment is the stupid one. It was ruled Waters wasn't even attempting to bump Watson. Go back and look at the incident. He didn't jump off the ground and his arm on the side of contact was hanging down by his side, he didn't brace himself as you do when delivering a bump.

Thomas however lined up the Freo player and jumped off the ground into him. Quite different. The impact wasn't severe for which he can be greatful and may reduce any penalty if there is even one.

Did he actually make contact with the head??

I watched a couple replays, and the blow seems to have been to the chest with a grazing contact to the head.

I hope he gets off. What might work againt him is he left the ground.

Thats his biggest problem.
Im not trying to defend him here, because I think he's gone for 2 weeks, but
it's amazing what can happens in .2 of a second in football.
Anyone that has played the game should know this.

will get a week, no more.
2 biggest factors for the points system is:
1)intentional (off the ball stuff gets big points)
2)impact (injury gets big points)

it was in play, ibbotson got straight up an palyed the rest of the game but it was negligent and high. 1 week.

Didn't look good with him jumping in the air... But with the MRP I have basically given up trying to work out what may happen.. I wouldn't be surprised if he got 3 weeks.. Wouldn't be surprised if he isn't even sighted

Funny thing is, Daisy is a guy with a spring in his step, his self preservation move is to go up, not to put his head down. If you watch him, he'll often jump into a tackle and twist his body. He's the kid who used to smother with his back.

If I was to place a bet, he'll be offered 4 weeks, but betting on the MRP is a mugs game.

There was high contact - but whether the high contact to the head was forceful enough to be reportable is debateable.

If it is - he'll cop two weeks due to his carryover points and loading.

It will be reckless (due to him leaving the ground) and high contact - low impact makes it a level 2 rough conduct and 225 points.

Loaded to 247 plus 68 - down to 236 after a plea. He'd risk a third week by challenging as well

Ultimately it will come down to whether the high contact is forceful enough - for mine though there was high contact - but the majority of force went through the body and for mine should be ok

So if he'd not challenge the last one, which everyone knew he had no chance of beating, he'd have 26 carry over points instead of 68.

247 + 26 = 273 - 68 (early plea 25%) = 205

I think this is right? and it is still two weeks - but at least this way he could challenge this one without risking a week.

if he didn't hit him in the head, and there is no evidencce to show he did (no contact clear video evidence of head contact, no head rubbing by Ibbotson) then doesn't he just get off?

What'd BJ get against Port for points in a similar thing this year?

Even with you top point being right your last point is the most telling !!

As for saying offered 4 weeks I would think that would be bloody ordinary! And this is from a cats fanwho would have no issues with us not having to worry about him in a potential match in around 4 games time haha... My initial thoughts where 2 then maybe 3 cos of his hit on Jones early in the year.. But who knows

Ps sorry for the intrusion to your board, just putting my 2 cents worth in :)

From what I saw, it seems apparent that the initial impact is to the chest region. This energy then forced its way towards the guys head, making it look like a hit to the head (high contact). I think he'll get one week for it.

I've looked at the incident many times.

Leaving the ground is quite damning and I doubt he can get off all together.

Negligent contact/high contact/low impact =125 points

125 +10% loading = 147.5 + 68.75 carry over = 216.25

216.25 - 25% for early plea = 162 points.

1 week suspension and another 62 carry points.

Having a look at some previous players charged with reckless contact and they are significantly more severe then Daisy's bump. It will be negligent.

Also contact at a medium level, usually incorporates the hit player, to leave the ground immediately. Didn't happen in this case. He got straight up almost immediately, shock his head and continued playing without leaving the field. Doctors report will clear the way to low impact.

He'll miss round 24. That's all.

Doesn't he have carry over points from the last incident? Could be looking at 2-3 weeks with that in mind is my fear..plus he won't be able to get it downgraded with a good record..may I'm just paranoid coz it's near the finals and we have a history of losing useful players

I stand by my comments.

Watched it on replay over and over and the force of the hit was certainly to the body. It was a very very minimal graze to the head.

As I said, nobody remonstrated with Daisy, Ibbotson got straight back up.

Also, why is it "damning" that he jumped off the ground? Since when did you have to have your feet planted to make physical contact in footy?

If Daisy had hit him clean in the head, Ibbotson would have been knocked into next year.

It looks bad because he jumped off the ground to make contact. It definitely looked like he hit Ibbotson's shoulder. If that's the case, and by letter of the law, he will be clear. If he has hit the head he could be up for two because of the 68 carryover points. Early plea should reduce it to one, however he will have serious points hanging over his head come finals. He's got to realise there's a fine line between being physical and being reckless.

Jumping off the ground showed clear intent to bump, not tackle. High contact and bumping = guilty charge. Unlike Waters where he didn't jump, it was deemed accidental. More of a chance to deemed a lessor charge when players don't leave the ground. Jumping in the air also leads itself to higher contact.

If he goes for this it is a joke IMO the intial contact is clearly to the chest, impact was low and I don't know how exactly the assess the intentional grading sure he intentionally bumped him but it wasn't his intention to commit "rough conduct"

Looks like it is a matter of whether he will miss 1 or 2 weeks of the finals. Last thing we need with so many players still to cycle back into the team. I think we will really still be working into it towards the business end of finals. I want to be rolling now. We're killing it don't get me wrong. But I wish we were also settled.
