Did anybody else see this on fox footy?
would love to get the opinion of a body language expert!
That is the most uninspiring performance from a coah i think i have seen from some time.
I reckon he's gone with the way he handed himself.
Certainly needs some educating on media interviews, really poor stuff from a Senior coach.
I am over all this smug, blame game stuff.
We need a motivator of men, who leads by example.

Wait a second....

When he is upbeat and positive, people say he isn't facing reality and doesn't care enough.

When he is a little subdued and downbeat, people say he isn't giving the club and himself a good image.

He can't win - make up your mind people.

I saw last week someone asked him if the rumors had affected the players. He replied, "No, they haven't, at least I hope not!" Now that surprised me because I thought, "Well shouldn't you know? You're the damn Coach afterall!" His press conferences always leave me like this. He is often vague and evasive and really ajust agrees with the reporter if they say something good and then whitewashes it if they bring up anything negative.

I really wonder if he gets on with players these days like he used too. I don't think he does. But that's only an opinion.

With you there - I saw it, didn't think there was anything wrong with the body language.

i do not critise when he is upbeat etc, i think it is positive, so i don't need to make up my mind.
Rather than posting that sort of dribble why don't you adress what i raised?
This is a caoch who has just beaten the raining premier who are aiming for a top 4 finish, our guys played with gusto and determination not seen since the start of the year, they were commited and were going to win from the first minute.
But if you were unaware of the score and watched the interview you saw a less than passionate man, who looked resigned to his fate and had a last ditch attempt that the review would not "go for scalps".
Of coarse there will be scalps, all clubs / business that fail realistic expectations and goals will have scalps, the question is simply who's.
Mark always has been a poor media liason, unfortunatley it is part of his job requirements, perhaps it is his media avisor / coach's fault that this part of his game is also failing.
Body language is a sure fire indicator of situations and feelings, just in the way we all knew 5 min into the match today we would win, or when 5 min into the Kanga's match we know we would loose.
I would like to see some tapes of coaches who were about to be replaced and compare them, they all show the same things and the club at these points in time all say the same things - "he is contracted for another year and will honour that contract" or "we will conduct a full review at the end of the year".

Doesn't that describe 95% of all press conferences though? I think if the coaches weren't obligated to give a press conference most of them would pass on it.

Absolutely - they have to answer the same obvious questions week after week. Did anyone see tool of the week last night - Eade answering every question with "I don't know". Press conferences are usually not interesting.
