I reckon a few of these guys should have been given more of a run this year. No matter how well they go in the magoos, Thompson just won't play them.

(01) Paul Koulouriotis
(02) Henry Playfair
(03) David Johnson
(04) Shannon Byrnes
(05) James Kelly

koula couldnt hit the side of a barn. gets so much of it but just butchers the ball 95% of the time.

playfair had many chances and honked it up. has improved but still seems so far from becoming a good afl player.

david johnson played more afl than vfl.

byrnes maybe unlucky, especially with the need for speed in our midfield.

kelly is a lazy footballer that plays unaccountable footballer.

The most obvious one is missing, Mark Blake.

Kelly was given too many opportunities, he should have been dropped for Prismall a lot earlier than he was.

Playfair has had a lot of chances.

Koula was a little unlucky not to get a final chance in the AFL but he is not the future of the gfc, fair enough.

Byrnes can't do the bread and butter stuff for a player of his stature, pace or not.

DJ is a baffling nomination. When he has been fit he has pretty much always been in the side. Infact he used to be seen as one of Thompson's favourites.

You can't be serious about Kelly... no way did he deserve a spot in the 1s.

I agree, always thought Bomber kept him in when he shouldnt have. The only thing he has consistently done was play poorly!!

Koula. He couldn't have had 47 turnovers, surely. He deserved more than just one game. Does Koula have trade value?

get a tape of the game and cringe, i think i saw just one of his possessions hit the target. his handballs are hospital passes as well. its all a pity coz he gets a lot of the ball, just cant finish. he has no trade value whatsoever.

Lonergan was in the best 13/15 times in the VFL I think...Only managed to break into the side at the end...wish him well for the future and hope he recovers

Henry has had his chances, but also injured a lot. Difficult to pick form back up from serious shoulder/hamstring injuries as he has done this year.

Also it is difficult to get form in the two's to only get a call up for one game before getting dropped. The difference between the AFL and VFL is getting bigger and bigger. Guys like Henry have suffered in form lapses as the Committee just doesn't stick with them long enough.

I totally agree about Koula. I think he should go to another club just so he gets ago. It's not fair on him. He is a bit up and down but this year in the VFL he has had some great performances and looked like he deserved a spot in the seniors.

Callan has also been a bit unlucky. I supose we don't really have room for him at the moment in the seniors unless there are injuries. Hope he gets a go in the seniors next year (especially in the tin can comp).

I think it is wrong to suggest that certain players aren't selected because Bomber "hates" them. Players are played in the seniors on form and if a player isn't cutting it in the VFL then it is hardly likely they would be selected. Also, if a senior player is playing well in a position it makes it hard for the junior players to break through. I can't stand it when people post simplistic excuses for the failures of some players. In this case saying that bomber hates them, so they are not selected. Bomber is only one person on the match committee and he is also smarter than that.

Mate that has to be one of the dumbest posts I've read on this board in a while...
Koula can't kick and doesn't warrant a place. He'll be delisted at year's end.
Playfair has been given plenty of chances, but hasn't stepped up... whether that's due to injuries or a distinct lack of ability is debatable
David Johnson has played plenty of AFL this year and been rather ordinary.
Byrnes has pace and flair but lacks composure and struggles to do the simple things consistently... same goes for Tenace, though I think Tenace will still come good.
Surely you can not be serious about Kelly. The bloke has been carried through the majority of the campaign and was rightfully dropped for playing lazy, unaccountable football. If anything Bomber showed to much faith by persisting with him when he just should of sent Kelly packing.

Tim Callan and David Wojcinski are the only two blokes who have been a bit stiff when it comes to senior selection. Callan especially.
Sorry if I'm a bit harsh, it's late and I'm going to bed, but lets just chalk it up to newbie-ness.

You lost all credibility with that choice.
Callan is the unluckiest player.

i agree, i thought the couple of games he played this year were good, the first time we played the dogs he was very good and deserved more of a run.

Thompson must love Playfair because I can't comprehend why he would get a game for any other reason.

Koulouritis is too slow for AFL.

I don't know if Bomber hates Callan, he's just a long way down the list of defenders - he's in the mould of Harley, Milburn and DJ and if they're all fit there's simply no place in the side for him. He should see a lot more of it next year, though, if only because his form in the VFL all over the ground has been so blistering that he would have to get a game.
