Perhaps but as I would prefer to hold onto him as I think he is important for us it does not matter. That was my point sorry.

Saddington to Hawthorn in straight swap for Tim Boyle

Hawks lack another backmen, Saddington although not setting the world on fire may give them an interim option, just as much as Boyle has and not been used.

We get a potentially half descent marking option if he can stay on the park.

Third Trade

Thornton and Bentick / Carrazzo to Sydney for Ryan Okeefe

Sydney would play hardball, but Thornton and Bentick may give them something to work with and enough to trade Okeefe back to Victoria.

Carrazzo may replace Bentick.

Okeefe is in a different class but would add that grunt and class factor up front.

Depends if he wants to leave a smuch as some have subtly mentioned.

Our second pick to Fremantle for Warnock

He and Hampson can share the ruck duties.

Gives us time to develop Kreuz more.

Look, just a fly by the night options, but I don't think Kosi, Kerr or Brown would be ideal due to the work needed to get the deal done, particularly Brown and Kerr.

I do accept that it has been said that we want to keep our picks, but our first rounder will be good.

We can really make some in roads.

Thornton, to put it bluntly, is a player of a bygone era. He is slow, he is undersize, he is indecisive and his skills are lacking. The game has passed him by.

NO club would trade a thing for him. We missed our chance with Hawthorn all because of that goat Smorgon and his board playing political games with our playing list.

I agree with your comments. The only players we may need to get rid of and who may be tradeable are: Fisher, Thornton, Backwell, Bentick and Jackson. I'm not sure if we could get much more than a 3rd round pick for either of them unless we did a "multi" trade.

I guess you missed his game on Brett Ebert at the weekend. I suggest you keep an eye on the B & F count at the end of this season. He will be up there in the top 10, indicating that the club value his contribution, even if you don't.

I don't know if T-Bird stole your girlfriend or something similar, but your disdain for him ranks right up there with other Carlton supporters of similar ilk who look for the negative in Fev, Carrazzo, Cloke etc. I guess this explains why your opinion only finds its way onto an internet forum & is not keenly sought by the Carlton Football Club.

MS, we wouldn't get one bite if we put Thornton up for trade at the end of the year.

He is deficient in all areas of the modern game. FFS Brett Ebert hasn't got a sniff all year. He did nothing and Thornton did nothing. No run off him...nothing.

He's not up to it and won't , or shouldn't get a game when Bower returns next year.

Bower, Waite and Jamo are streets ahead of him as players of similar build. Hopefully Austin will be the bigger bodied defender in a year or two time. Heater,Grigg,Browne and others are our rebounders.

I'm not sure why it is so hard for some supporters to admit one of their players is not good enough. i just don't get it. it's not being disloyal, just realistic.

He's done enough this year to warrant a spot in the 22. Had a few really good games (without starring) IMO.

Our backline has performed fantastic this year and you want to get rid of one of the generals who has been pretty good for us this year and for the past 5 years IMO.

Blue Bear, i'm 110% with you on this.

Its like people are trying to trade a Datsun 180B for a VE Holden Commodore and still get change back.

If people start threads and want fruitfull discussion, then throw up something realistic.

If we were to trade Thronton (and i say 'if' becuase I dont know why we would want to) then something more realistic i.e. Thornton for Thorpe/Dowler + maybe draft pick thrown in there is more realistic and then maybe we can all have some sort of positive discussion as to why it would or wouldnt work.

IMO if we were to trade for a top line player, i.e. ROK, Brown, Kozi etc etc we would just about have to part with a 1st pick. Because we are winning games doesnt mean all of our players have currency.
