I would be interested in rivers but not for thorp. Maybe dowler or boyle and a draft pick but that is all i would be giving up.

This years draft is being described as better than 2001! We would most definitely consider pick 6 for Thorp.

I am wondering whether you would argue that we should not trade Croad for Hodge in 2001????

Im pretty sure Thorp just signed a contract last month, they wouldnt do that if they had ANY intention of picking up a backman.

Also, if we were to trade him, we would want something like pick 6, We have put two seasons of strength/rehabilitation in him, so unless it was pick 6 or less. ild tell any other club to not even bother.

Carlton are very keen to take Thorp and are considering offering pick 6 while Melbourne and Richmond are very keen on Dowler.

I would highly highly doubt that Carlton would part with pick #6 for Thorpe. Their has been some discussion about Thornton being up for trade. I'm not suggesting a straight swap, but Thornton/Thorpe and a couple of draft picks might get the deal over the line.

Dowler has always been a long term prospect at Hawthorn after his car accident. He is playing career best footy at Box Hill in the last 6 weeks of this season and was regularly emergency listed and on the verge of playing. Touted as a forward, but look for him to play more at CHB as well next season.
Thorp has fought injury all year and has still thrown in a 7 goal haul v Geelong reserves and a couple of other good games. He needs a pre season injury free. Given he was signed for another 2 years just before finals this year would indicate he's not leaving.

Anyone can be traded given the right offer but I would highly doubt either will go.

On the other hand look for us to offload Tim Boyle plus a draft pick in an attempt to lure a key defender.
