Me thinks Essendon has struck a nerve, and so someone is lying to try and deflect attention away from the real issue - the salary cap concessions.

No matter what the salary cap was set at, people would be bitching about how they can't fit all of the players under it. The more in the pie, the more the players will want.

You have to draw a line in the sand somewhere and that's what the AFL has done, forget this utterly stupid idea of increasing it, it will serve no purpose whatsoever.

I'm waiting for the day the salary cap concessions change. I'm betting there is a good 90% chance that any changes will be based on the recommendations the Lions have been making for the last 18 months. Yet supporters such as the above will probably claim it as a victory.

Pevers, for future reference, you might (as a general rule) want to make sure you know what the hell you are talking about before you start the accusations. I mean seriously, under your logic, it is more than feasible that Essendon are making such a fuss over the Lions salary cap allowance so as to try and deflect attention to any untoward dealings that might be trying to bust out of the closet.

Can you imagine EFC sueing Packer over running with this story. They'd be in court with their 2 two bob lawyers trying to argue with Kerry's 12 miwyon buck lawyers that breaking the spirit of the salary cap didn't warrant such nasty press. Meanwhile the board is trying to convince the world that they are all good blokes despite leagalised (at best) cheating.

Somehow I don't see Essendon sueing anyone except maybe their own lawyers for dodgy advice.

I agree, there has to be some consistency with the penalties that get handed out. No point in taking us to the cleaners and then giving the next offender a slap on the wrist.

This is not meant to be seen as a 'woe is me, Carlton was wronged' type of comment, I'm merely looking at it as an overall issue, it has to be fair to everyone.
