Why was it leaked to the media? from who? To be honest, it's much more likely that it was leaked to the media after it had been an issue for an extended amount of time as opposed to when it first happens and there is a chance for the club to get on the front foot to address the issue internally.

It seems the KKKrows were happier to sweep it under the carpet.
