The one that got me hot under the collar was when Bassett came accros the pack for a spoil, got absolutely CRUNCHED by Simmonds and Simmonds gets the free

Can anyone explain this one to me ? Was at the game (right in front of it) and saw it and couldn't work out what the free was for. I thought it should have been a mark or high contact to bassett. The crows crowd contingent went bananas for that one !
Good win guys, far too good for us on Sat night.

GS and Stiffy, the Crows player (apologies, I can't remember who it was)actually pushed Simmonds in the back, and this forced him into Bassett. Rightly or wrongly, the ump decided to pay the push to Simmonds.

If its the one im thinking of (to the left of screen in the left forward pocket) then it looked like the Crow player behind Simmonds shoved Simmonds into Bassett so therefore a push in the back.

Win lose or draw - I always impose a 24 hour BF ban on myself....helps take the emotion out - especially if we lose !!!

All played well........

AS fantastic as Welsh and Perrie were - Richmond's defense was woeful - you still need to get the job done however....and those 2 guys were great.
Thommo............ :)
Burton - should get games for that.....bloody stupid...

Everyone had a great game - probably Doughty the only passenger.....so IMO.....Knights and Massie in for Doughty and Burton.

Now.......what about the bloody umpiring. ?????? Fair dinkum - if the AFL was the Public Service, the Umpires a Govt. Department, and Geesh was a Minister......there would be a Royal Commission held over the state of umpiring ATM. No other sphere of endevour, whether it professional, sporting, Administrative, Business.....would tolerate such inept performances from it's collegues. I thought I was witnessing a corruption scandal unfolding such was the blatant disregard for the rules, reputation, and spirit of the game....especially that #18.....

Shame shame shame !!!

other than that - had a good night !!!.... :D

Yep - Bock gave him a shove in the back. Not huge but it was there.

Part of the problem though was the inconsistency.

When Simmonds gave Bock a distinct shove in the back - a far more definite one - the decision then was a mark awarded to Simmonds and the result a goal to Richmond.

Any time a Crows player was tackled high it was a ball up. Every time a Richmond player was tackled anywhere near the shoulder, it was a free to Richmond.

The umpiring was consistent all right - nearly every decision was a free awarded to Richmond.

I thought the worst was the holding the ball interpretation.

It was just so inconsistent on the night that it wasn't funny. It's a sad state of affairs that the player making the play gets to the ball then gets jumped on by 36 players and gets pinged holding the ball...on the proviso he was wearing an Adelaide guernsey.

Then when Perrie picks the ball up, gets tackled and it spills free, he gets told he tried to take him on, yet when Gaspar did far worse than that it's called play on. It was a rare time when I've been at a game and I've actually been ********ing outraged at the umpiring to the point where I thought they were cheating. Even the Richmond supporters behind us were saying that this isn't what they pay $20 bucks to see (may have also been talking about Richmond :p ). To make matters worse they start paying such soft frees to us in the last quarter to make them look better. At one point Welsh took a mark and they paid holding the man just to even them up.

Some of the evener-uppers in the last qtr were a disgrace......

4 to 19 near 3 qtr time.........they were pulling all kinds of shyte out to try and even up.

something needs to be done....

I headed down to the 'G on Saturday afternoon for the top of the table clash between the Dees and the Eagles, to make it a top notch double header.

I was thinking to myself that for 1 v 2, the potential match of the year, they'd pull out the best umpiring panel they could.

Out strolled....

Matt Stevic
Darren Goldspink
Scott McLaren

Hilarity ensued.

The jokers we had on Saturday night were bad enough, but it could have been worse...
