The Club must be THRILLED to have supporters like you!

I support the club. Hell, I hope Jericho has a decent game, but I doubt it will happen.

But we've had years of this crap from Jericho. I can tolerate players having rubbish games, I can barely tolerate players just being rubbish in general.

But I can not tolerate pathetic attempts on the football, pathetic attempts to tackle and someone not being willing to put their body on the line.

I've been one of the harshest Jericho critics over the years for his lame attack on the ball......but once he pulls on the jumper he deserves to be supported.

He is in the side - get behind him and support him

FFS

It's a good thing the Club doesn't have a tolerance level like you do. Hmmm let's see, they can tolerate supporters that are disappointed when we lose, they can even tolerate them when they have a bit of a grumble. But when it is a constant barrage of bullshit aimed at men who are chosen by our club to play for our club, they should be able to drop the "alleged" supporters from attending games until they start actually supporting the CLUB they profess to support!

I'll be supporting him Saturday night, no question there. I hope he has 50 touches and kick 5 goals if it means we're going to get the 4 points.

I don't rate him, I don't think he deserves to be in the side, but that doesn't mean I won't be hoping he does well.

Questioning his efforts is bullshit?

So because Bus thinks Jericho is useless he shouldnt be able to support the team??

I think Handbags is useless too, as do many others, why dont you stop us all from supporting the club

No not at all... but the constant barrage of abuse against YOUR OWN player is! I am sure Neil Craig et al constantly scrutinise ALL players efforts at all times. I am sure they know stuff about players that we will NEVER know and possibly could never understand.

You need to ask yourself, at what point did you cross over from being a supporter to an intolerant know-it-all that purports that they understand and knows more than the coach?

How much of this game is "mental", and how much "physical"? How much could having your own supporters bagging you constantly effect your approach to the game?

Supporting the TEAM.... Jericho is a part of that team and deserves to be supported not treated like a leper.

And honestly, I think the TEAM would be better off without some of you! How must Perrie feel every time he hears the audible groans when he misses a goal? He doesn't bloody do it on purpose! How must Luke feel when he is called Handbags or soft? Must make him stand 10 foot tall...... NOT! They are humans not machines. They are fallible - just like you and I.

Least he will bring the girls to the game for the lads ;P
Pro footballers can handle that abuse, it's how they got to where they are by performing if they are focusing on berating opinions and not improving their game then they do not make it.

They get paid lots of money to play a PROFESSIONAL sport.

There is no room for mediocrity. Its not like they dont get paid good money.

Are you saying Handbags is not soft? God, you must not watch him play at all.

I agree sadly if he can't cut the mustard (which he has shown again and again) then he has got to go.

This isn't Aus Kick where we give the team a pat on the back and lollypop win or lose jenny be realistic. If Perrie and Jericho are hindering our ability to win games they are going to be critisised ... they're big boys I'm sure they can handle it.

Add Welsh to this for me and this is how I feel

I don’t know what to think when reading your posts. They’re both cringe worthy and worthy of laughter at the same time. How many more people are you going to bag and label as unworthy supporters of the AFC? You do realise that we can voice our opinions, and they don’t always have to praise and adore everything or everyone at the AFC?

And about Perrie, seriously get a clue. The guy is getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to take marks and kick goals, and when he can't even convert from 20-30 metres out we can't groan? Give me a break. But I guess we can't shatter his feelings!!!

And here we go again. If he doesn't like being called soft, then simple, DON'T PLAY SOFT.

A lot of creative players are not the hardest players going around. Look at Harvey for us, doesn't really get his jumper dirty during games but can be devastating to the opposition if he is used well in the middle or up forward.

You need that X factor, that creative spark that can break games open. Not sure if Jehrico will get the job done but with Burton, Hentschel and Goodwin out and Roo not at 100% the crows need a bit more spark.

I can understand if NC is trying to give the side more of that oomph. It may not work, or it probably wont work according to most Crows supporters but NC has to try and produce the winning formula needed. He has a long queue of the hard-working accountable hard type of player, I can understand him playing him if he thinks he is the best one "available" for that creative type of job. You don't need that type of person to be like the other more defensively oriented players.

It's a good observation. Is there a place for a 'skillful' midfielder in Adelaide's one-on-one, accountable game plan? Adelaide, under both Ayers and Craig, doesn't seem to have given much credence to the 'outside' player who can hurt a team with their skills but struggles when the contest turns tough, hard and ugly.

Hardness seems to be a non-negotiable which makes the fact that we have kept Jericho on our list, and given him games, a surprise. Even Brent Reilly who started his career looking like he would perhaps be a good ball carrier who could break the lines and damage with his disposal has been turned into a player who is good in traffic, gets plenty of clearances etc.

I wonder if NC is prepared to accept Jericho's strengths and overlook his weaknesses or if he believes that he can fundamentally change what the player offers the team? He has done it with other players (Perrie, Shirley, Massie) where he has overlooked their skill level in favour of their unquestioned hardness and commitment. Does it work in reverse?

No there isn't space for it down forward, he needs to put pressure on.
You can't afford the ball to rebound out of your forward lines and expect your mid-fielders to diversify the scoreboard at the same time.
Given forward delivery not being great sure, however the forwards pressure is tending to be non-existent players going to ground and the opposition not skipping a beat.
The mids cannot be caught in between trying to present as a scoring opportunity coming forward with the flight, they have to go one way or the other and if there is nothing keeping the ball down forward they need to be heading back to man up.

This is why the game play is seen as negative the ball is whisked out with ease and players can't be caught in between forward and back having to watch the ball flying back over their head to their opponent.

You all seem to be of the opinion that I have a "thing" for Jericho where I can categorically say I do not. I am a 46 year old, married for 26 years kind of gal, so I am not at that level of shallowness when it comes to the players. I support MY team and MY players. I have said MANY times, that I call things how I see them. A few weeks ago, I felt Jericho had had two terrific games and was desparately unlucky to be dropped. I said so. Last week I was disappointed, but not in only him but Porplyzia, Welsh and Bock and a few others as well. And I said so.

If they are hindering our chances then I'd say absolutely get rid of them! But IMO football is a TEAM sport. It's not about one person costing us the game. Neil Craig and his team of selectors obviously see something in the lad that you don't or he wouldn't still be there. I think it would be guaranteed if Jericho put in another performance like he did last week, he will not get another game. I have great faith in Neil Craig and if he is prepared to support a player(s), then so am I.

And Drummond, just as you put down the "grannies" that have paid good money for their tickets and don't want someone standing in front of them, I have a go at supposed "supporters" who don't actually support.

I don't care if the player is payed a squillion $ (well yes I do, but that's a WHOLE other thread ). It does not automatically make him super human and I think it unrealistic for people to think it should.

Let's get real about this.

Respect is something that has to be earned - it cannot be demanded.

Let's all hope that Jericho earns some tonight.

I think NC has built up a very good group of hard and tough players but I don't think it is accurate that he does not place value on the creative players.

I remember hearing an address he gave to the players in his first year, might have been a pre-season game, where he talked about going to the hot spot up forward and creating the opportunity for the creative players.

Back then Burton was probably as much maligned as Jehrico is now, he wasn't consistant and wasn't really the hardest Crow going around but the team would create opportunities and he started to thrive when given that opportunity.

I think what he has done is made guys like Burton and Hentschel more accountable, more consistant without drawing too much away from their creative side. Jehricho hasn't evolved the same and that is why he is a depth player and not first choice.

What some of the supporters say is true though, if he really fails to make the most of his chances when the team needs him the most it is doubtful that he will survive on what is a pretty short AFL list. Clubs do not have a lot of room to retain a lot of fringe players and some of the younger players starting to mature will be competing against him for his spot on the list. He really needs to make the most out of limited opportunities otherwise he will most likely follow Skippy.
