Still can't believe we gave up pick #9 and Mark Williams for Burgoyne.

Imagine how many premierships would could have won with Andrew Moore and Mark Williams.

Hawthorn traded under the hypothesis that draft picks were overrated by other clubs and it is still paying dividends today.

What tosh. A number one pick in the hand is worth ten Sean B's. Or twenty.

Just ask Melbourne, GWS and the Suns.

Burger is a star. I did not have a clue as to how good a player he is and probably has been for most of his career.

This year he has looked as fit as I have seen him, certainly his pace/acceleration is right up there. In terms of resilience, since being at HFC, he has played 16 games(2010), 24, 24, 23 and 25 this year. He is as tough as old boots. We should be able to squeeze another two flags out of him.

Those couple of runs in the Preim and the Qualifying Final were stunning.
He just took off, with younger players trying to stay with him, had a couple of bounces and delivered to Roughie for goals.

And he did it so easily.
Each time no one could get near him!

Also how he threaded his way through the middle against half a dozen swans in the first quarter of the GF!

He's been all class since he's join, with the exception of that rough patch with the injuries at the very start.

A great insurance player. We seem to deploy him wherever he's needed and he does the job. When we're on top, he just sits back on half back and collects his Premiership medal.

Almost the forgotten man sometimes such is the class of this list. Flies under the radar in the ilk of michael tuck or andrew collins in the great 80's teams.

Every team considers tagging mitchell, lewis, smith or hill.

In a car park full of Porchues, Lamborghinis and Ferraris every team seems to foolishly forget the 1960's aston martin which is shaun burgoyne - the epitome of class and elegance whilst being deceptively quick and powerful, with the full skill set.

Rarely does this guy get beaten with an innate ability to answer the call whenever a game is on the line.

Best of all an absolute gentleman of the game, a personality every team wants around their club.

Xavier Ellis will get his body right any day. Where is Hodge at (sorry!!)

I've been trying to answer that question for 12 months.

Another one: when we lose, it's Clarko's fault; when we win, it's because of our great assistant coaches.

Discuss at length.

Burgoyne is one of those players who is a step ahead of the game. One of my favourites to watch, by the time he gains possession he already knows what he's going to do with the pill.

Not wanting to take anything away from Hodgey but was hoping Burger would add a norm smith to his resume just so he would get the recognition he deserves by the broader community. Mitchell too. Both are absolute freaks. Alltime favourites. Hopefully they still will...

I think Silk coming to the hawks prolonged his career, and as such has been very good to both parties. As we have used him intelligently all over the ground, so we are not running him ragged (and his knees) and we throw him into the middle - when needed. As why would you use a wood when all you need is a six iron. You get the wood out when you absolutely have to.

By running through half back/back pocket - he can play on talls and shorts and is a very good one on one player, with exquisite skills. He fits into Clarksons model of multi position players, just as Mitchel in the last 2 years has added other strings to his bow.

Great pick up and his boys also barrack for the Hawks, so may have the inside running for them when father/son situation comes into calculation.

Plenty of time for them both to pick up a Normie before Hodge says enough's enough and takes his third...

Just watched the ideo of his review on hawthorn webpage. WOW!!
I can't believe how good he is. He is quick with a burst from nothing, who needs dangerfield when we have a burgoyne. I am blown away quite honestly it made me think that Burgoyne is our best player by a long shot. If he was 26 you would probably be cursing his inconsistent performance as he doesn't do it all game but for us at this time he is like the break glass in case of emergency type we just say go for five minutes and he does, game won thank yer mother for the rabbits
