Discussion Thoughts on full back

Watters is very big on accountability. Our back line took a beating last year, not only because we lost our tallest defender and injuries but because there was much less flooding back. After 4-5 years under Lyon, the more forward moving game plan meant they were going to struggle but or backs are going to be much better for it this season and beyond.
Same thing happened with CJ, as he found himself obsolete under the Watters new accountable game style, which meant no real stand out tagging. Makes a lot of sense, as does most of our coaches decisions and coaching style.

I've been off the reservation for a while, so apologies if I'm propagaing rumours already well-watered on this board (i suspect I am), but here I go - I happened to stumble upon someone with very good knowledge of the Mitch Brown situation and the conversation was very interesting. Apparently an offer is still on the table for Brown for the 2014 season and the Saints are going full tilt at him. From the Brown side of the ledger, his decision will rest on two factors - first, whether he plays a lot of senior footy in 2013 and second, whether his fiance can get a gig with the Melbourne Vixens, which is apparently not a foregone conclusion. That second bit may become a real sticking point if Brown feels confident he'll be a first 22 player at Wet Toast in 2014.

I don't know if anyone else on the board has confirmed that the offer's still on the table, but I was interested to hear it.

The other thing my acquaintance mentioned was mere rumour, but worth repeating - apparently Brown is about 40 games from becoming a 100 game player and therefore enabling West Coast to pick up any future sons. Because of who his fiance is, the rumour goes that they see real value in keeping him on to the 100 game mark - I know we've all discussed this in the abstract before, but it was pretty amusing to think that they may be wanting to hold on to a bloke partly because his unborn son/s may one day be good AFL players.

Welcome back to the reservation. It appears that your time off, was well spent.
