Your willing to get stuck into Jericho who is only 20 and played a handfull of games. What about Welsh? He is 26 and played just as bad yesterday, and has played more bad than good this season.

Let's dump Welsh and give Jericho a real go. Everyone has bad games, it's how they step up the next week that makes them good players. I say give him a go, pressure can often bring out the best in people.
I agree that Jericho should be given a couple more games to see how much of AFL he really can handle.

On Welsh, why on earth was he on Scarlett? Scarlett is Geelong's fullback, who is stronger than Welsh.... why wasn't Biglands or someone bigger matched up on him? Strange. :o

I doubt it. I don't think you can "learn" natural aggression, it's instictive.
I agree, but you can learn to be hard at the ball and body - he just needs time in the system, playing against mature bodies, and to have confidence to play in that style which is obviously foreign to him.

I thought it was very negetive game from both sides, not a good game to watch, and from two top four sides was not what I expected and the conditions were good for a very good game of footy, just got to get past it now and look to the Tigers saturday night.

Exactly. Doughty learnt. Jericho can too.

Exactly, unless they have small hearts like a certain Ruckman who I won't mention (Marsh :D )

Can you learn to be hard at the ball and body? I wonder.

I've tried to think of one Crow player who was as soft as Jericho (Doughty wasn't in the same class as Jericho) and learned hardness but I've come up empty.

I watched the Collingwood v Melbourne game today. How soft is Woewodin? A far better footballer than Jericho but just as soft. He cost the Pies time after time with his soft non-efforts today. He's never developed one ounce of hardness in spite of constant criticism.

Don't misunderstand me. I want Jericho to succeed because of his athleticism, pace and booming kick. But soft players will cost you tme after time.

The ball's in his court. I hope he accepts the challenge.

Just got back from Geelong and still getting the splinters out of my ar*se. I though I was in a time warp and back at Waverley with the wooden seats. Still a very frustrating game and I would recommend never sit in the Hickey Stand in the farside pocket (Bay 2). Couldn't see a bloody thing looking into the sun in the last quarter.

Game we had our chances and was frustrated by the number of handballs - too often we did one too many and got into trouble.

In the third when Jericho got caught, did he have many options coz in my mind that was the turning point in the game. If we got 21 points up I reckon Geelong would have folded, given we had the breeze in the last.

Good games by Thompson (but I hate the free kicks he gives away) and Goodwin.

Welsh - can someone please get inside his head. Too inconsistent.

Perhaps a few players didn't want to get any bruises given the Melbourne Dinner Dance was on last night!!!

Hmmm cynical  now where's my dictionary. ;)

Well if i am i don't mean to be & in regards to Luke Jericho i can only go on what my eyes tell me.

Same as what macca said i hope like hell that Luke can make the necessary adjustments to his game or else he will end up as just another Ben Marsh.

I tipped Geelong, but gee whiz, talk about ********ing 4 points into the wind - just like the West Coast and Brisbane games before it.

We kept them goalless for a half on their own heap, they played well for a grand total of 20 minutes, their fullback had 30 touches and was BOG (a testament to how often we got it down there as much as Scarlett's performance) and yet we still go home empty handed.

When we look back at this season and our 12-13 wins followed by a token showing in week one and two of the finals, there'll be some comfort in saying "well, we did a lot better than anyone expected" - but there'll be more merit in saying "2003 reloaded" considering the golden chances we're spurning.

If Jericho can have a Brownlow medal winning season, he can be as soft as he likes.
